While it is always exciting to have new players in the team we cant expect these youngs guys to save our season or the game. If he even gets fifty percent of the ball buchanan gets then he will have done an excellent job.

Its like Nick Smith, the guy gets two games (hawks and geelong if i recall) and people start saying that AFL level is a bit beyond him because he only gets a few stats. You cannot expect judd like performances from these young guys in their first few games of AFL. Give him half a season and then we can make start to make a judgement.

You'll get a beautiful mover. He has a real long stride and moves across the ground like a panther. I know I've seen similar type players, but struggling to think of one at the minute, maybe Jared Brennan (in movement, not size) but somebody will think of a good one.

Sooooo, let me get this straight.
1. He moves beautifully. What does that mean? I take it, that doesn't mean quick...

2. He never shirks a contest, but also doesn't get his own ball

3. His disposal is suspect.

Doesn't sound great at AFL level if you ask me.
Sorry, not trying to be overly negative, and I haven't seen him play, but especially the last point gives me cause for concern. Turnovers are so costly against the top teams.

Interesting that you pick out all the negatives - i guess that's symptomatic of society as a whole these days, and certainly reflects a lot of the stuff on RWO.

He sounds like a goalsneak to me with excellent forward defensive skills.

How about this from the description on the Swans official site (some positives if you look closely - but i bolded just in case) ...

Recruited from Calder Cannons, the winger/small forward has great ball-winning ability along with good disposal skills. He also has good speed and skills, reads the play very well and has impressive evasive flair - rarely getting caught. In round 18 of the 2006 TAC Cup he amassed 40-plus possessions on the way to winning more contested ball in the forward-50 than any other player in the under-18 competition - and ranked second in the TAC competition for tackles. He was selected at number 30 overall in the 2006 rookie draft. Patella tendonitis kept him in rehab since arriving at the Swans but is due to join the main group in early March.
Previously rookie listed with Sydney. A lightly framed midfielder/forward from Calder Cannons. Quick and dangerous near goal

Unfortunately, you WON'T get pinpoint passes.

Put him on a half-forward flank and have him ping at the goals. You don't need to be pinpoint accurate when pinging at the goals, just get it between the big sticks.

My very, very, first fleeting impression(you know that one split second you get of someone) was Mickey O for Matt O'Dwyer and Diesel Williams for Bird. Both big boots to fill, I know,but there was just that something in both of them that made me think "ooooooh..I like what I see!"

I can also remember thinking that Heath?????(the father/son selection that was always injured) marked like Dunkley in my first fleeting impression, but that never came to fruition.

James. How can you forget his name?!! He's still one of the runners.

Was a very talented player. For all the bemoaning we've done over the years over short players pinch hitting above their height, in the late 1990s we recruited three talls who could seriously play and all had absolute rotten luck with injury. I remember Heath's first game and he did indeed take several Dunkleyesque marks.

Now that actually makes him sound pretty promising.

My point was that the OP didn't really make him sound great at all, "a beautiful mover" doesn't instantly make me think "pace", and the rest of the description made him sound like a beautifully moving Jude Bolton without the hardness....
