After going through all the permutations i have come to the conclusion that the most likely scenario is swans v collingwood at anz in the first week. In any case the only way we will finish four is if we win every match including geelong.

If we had snagged just one of Hawthorn, Bulldogs or Adelaide we would be in a much better possie.

To get there this year we are going to need a huge lift in form and fast!

No, you are incorrect (and not just the errant apostrophe). If we win 3 (and go to 54 pts), then StKilda or Adelaide can still pass us with 4 wins.

St Kilda have four relatively easy games in which they will be favourite Collingwood (tough week two v.good palyers out Shaw and Didak), Fremantle, Adelaide(at the Dome) and Essendon... so as soon as we drop one they will go ahead of us.

So we have to win all four.....

No big deal if we finish 5th. Playing the 8th placed team at home and the next game (assuming we win) at the MCG vs the Dogs or the Hawks is not that much of a difference than losing to Geelong then getting a home game against a St. Kilda for instance.

I think each scenario is pretty much of a toss up. Can't see anyone beating the Cats anyway. We would have to have a pretty dramatic change in form to get to the final. If we can win the remaining 3 games, only losing to Geelong, I would be pretty happy and see that as a pretty successful year.

Lets face it, a lot of things will have to go right if we can make the transition to a new lot of up and coming players and continue to stay close to the top 4. But I do think some of our recent recruits look to have a lot of potential and things could well go our way. But we need to keep Bazza, MOL and a few others in reasonable form over the next couple of years to smooth the transition to the next generation of players.

It's so hard to tell whether the likes of Laidlaw, Thornton, Merridith, Murphjy, DOK, Kyle Coney, Grundy, White, Currie and Oreal will make it in the big time.

A lot of injuries to these younger players make the situation unclear at present, so we could be looking at a real solid team in the future or a disaster. But I do thing Bird, Moore, Jack and Vespa will all be good players, and that's not a bad start.
