Hall was a little frustrated at times but 4 goals, hes getting back into form.

What a mark that was pure Bevo. Can't wait to see it on replay. If anyone has the means could you put it up on YouTube?

If you're in Victoria, I'm sure it will be on After the Game. I didn't see it so will be checking it out after Pies vs Saints coverage finishes.

The must win game that had to be won1

Even without the last 5 minutes, watching Adam Goodes in flight even with restricted run is awsome.

It's what we take from the game.
Barry Hall cannot take a contested mark without a push so he needs to get kicks upfield where he is not marked by 3 and someone else needs to step up - tonight Goodes.
The ruck was a real worry but its hard against a guy who seems immovable and 8 feet tall.
17 goals was also a highlight... not so much a shutdown as a shootout.

Just good to get the win.

              The Good

Jude : Fair dinkum crack , wanted to win all night, Well done Nuts.
Bevo : Not just a great mark , but a very good game.
LRT : Hope his bashers on here get off his back
Goodes : 8 is enough , great return.
Hall : Better again , this week.
Crouchy : Really pleasing to see.

              The Bad

We are still a fair way off the mark , lets be honest,
Good win tonight , though will know where we are at in the next 2 weeks
Spida : I wont even comment on him.
Noggy : His form is a worry.
The situation on : Malceski . Micky O . Leo : We need all 3 back next week.

Anyway , good to get up and read the paper tomorrow knowing we had a win and that hopefully we can improve and get going again

It was great to see a win again but I would be hugely surprised if it changes anything. We are not capable of beating collingwood, geelong or hawthorn. The side was rabble like at some stages of tonight's game. The defence if it has lrt at its heart will continue to be beaten. B2's form is strangely disappointing. Keneally is a shadow of is former self as is Hall who has just got to stop getting caught behind and using his hands. I don't think grundy or brennan were particularly good but i reckon they both do a job on second tier players. The midfield remains our one area of strength - kirk was fabulous, jude remains an enigma in his ability to play some very very good football, moore, jack, and bird are all improving players.

by the way how can anyone say people ought not bash LRT on that performance. Pavlich led him to the ball on every occasion, and when he didn't there were two one on one contests where pavlich just pushed him out of the contest - once leading to a goal to tarrant from a handpass and once to a goal for johnson in the last quarter.

he is a liability except when he plays on resting ruckmen and as demonstrated by john anthony in the collingwood game even then he struggles

I agree that LRT didn't perform well at the back today - he was beaten on the lead many times, and also in the one-on-ones for the mark. It looks to me like he needs some more upper-body strength - he just gets shoved off the ball.

But, he took a great mark on the left wing there near full time that allowed us to wind the clock down. I was at the game behind the posts, so I really only saw half his game. I really think he's better ar RHB. Hope he grows with experience.

Pavlich was great. I actually wanted Freo to kick the last goal & win. They deserved to, despite Goodes, Bolton, J and a few others. Poor ROK, he was ripped off all night. Ted is another Bolton, C in the making - another good game. I have aged 2 years tonight.

Wasnt the convincing win I'd hoped for to turn our season around, but I'd sum up the game as 2 evenly matched sides where one had more to gain by winning and had that extra 1% drive when it counted.

Spida did well in the last. LRT bashing is silly. Pavlich has been canning the best recently. Goodes to FF - there is our future from 2011 - 2014.

Terrific game by Jude Bolton. Must be the best of his career.

I disagree with anyone who says Kennelly was ordinary. He gave us run from the backline all night.

It just shows what we can do by kicking the pill long to a contest up forward. There were times though when for whatever reason forgot Goodes was kicking goals and stuffed around in the centre and gifted them some goals with horrible turnovers.

At the risk of being bagged, I thought Jared Moore's disposal was very ordinary. He got it enough but continues to miss bread and butter snaps and refuses to go with the first option, whether from a set kick on the mark or on the run. He had at least 3 chances to bring the ball to the square quickly but stopped, propped and was forced to kick hurriedly. Must improve this part of his game.

Brennan's on the run kicking has improved, but he needs to get into the game more. Looks very likely, but just drops off for long periods.

Veszpremi continues to impress and kicks the ball long and strong. Probably not a lot of stats but quality ones.

Interesting that our play makers of the past few weeks in McVeigh and ROK were down, but others stood up. Kirk was just grand.

Bevo was good all night and more than once was very courageous.

Luke Ablett looked overweight, was slow and when he got it had poor disposal. Must make way for Fosdike or Malceski. No one else deserves to be dropped before him and he was a dead set liability out there tonight.

Gee Bob, thought Ted was ordinary. He made some terrible disposal errors and continually put others under pressure with hot hand balls.

Your right on ROK, but he wasn't alone. The umpires missed , or did they, many holding off the ball situations against ROK, Bolton and Kirk at stoppages. They were so obvious on the telly.
