We are still a fair way off the mark , lets be honest,
Good win tonight , though will know where we are at in the next 2 weeks
Spida : I wont even comment on him.
Noggy : His form is a worry.
The situation on : Malceski . Micky O . Leo : We need all 3 back next week.

Anyway , good to get up and read the paper tomorrow knowing we had a win and that hopefully we can improve and get going again
    Go Bloods !!

    Based on tonights performance

    Good

J Bolts- Loved his work 2nite, getting bak to the good footy we all know he can play.
    C Bolts- Great again.
Bevo- Very underated and flys under the radar but his performance tonight was awesome took alot of pressured marks. Well done Bevo.
Goodes- 8 goals need i say more.
Crouchy- Thought he was great again tonight with his run. Keep it up Crouchy!
Kirk- His leadership tonight was 1st class as usual was in and under and insperational.

Down (my choice of word instead of bad)

Ablett- I thought his rush in the last was gunna cost us, hope the old nog returns nxt week we need him for geelong.
Spider- I have held off but i think he is passed it seems slow and can barely bend over to pick up the ball let alone chase!

The stats don't tell the whole story. Consider: Pav is Freo's most important player, and although his disposals were high, he was not a huge influence on the game, and was restricted to 1.1. On several occasions he was impeded by a determined LRT. Also a leading forward will generally beat his man if the ball is dropped in front of him - can't blame the defender for that. When he had the ball the hyphenator was much more decisive than usual and his disposals were mostly to advantage. I think he's picked up a bit and if he can maintain that level of play I'm happy to see him in the lineup. The main area he can improve is his second efforts, and they were better tonight.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

As far as i'm concerned we where losing the ruck against Sanderlands when Jolly was against him ,But when Spida rucked at least he gave Sanderlands competition & won a few.

            That's how i saw it

I disagree with anyone who says Kennelly was ordinary. He gave us run from the backline all night.

It just shows what we can do by kicking the pill long to a contest up forward. There were times though when for whatever reason forgot Goodes was kicking goals and stuffed around in the centre and gifted them some goals with horrible turnovers.

At the risk of being bagged, I thought Jared Moore's disposal was very ordinary. He got it enough but continues to miss bread and butter snaps and refuses to go with the first option, whether from a set kick on the mark or on the run. He had at least 3 chances to bring the ball to the square quickly but stopped, propped and was forced to kick hurriedly. Must improve this part of his game.

Brennan's on the run kicking has improved, but he needs to get into the game more. Looks very likely, but just drops off for long periods.

Veszpremi continues to impress and kicks the ball long and strong. Probably not a lot of stats but quality ones.

Interesting that our play makers of the past few weeks in McVeigh and ROK were down, but others stood up. Kirk was just grand.

Bevo was good all night and more than once was very courageous.

Luke Ablett looked overweight, was slow and when he got it had poor disposal. Must make way for Fosdike or Malceski. No one else deserves to be dropped before him and he was a dead set liability out there tonight.
Good summary, agree with all of this.

LRTs decision making was my big issue tonight, he just seems to lack any vision which is really frustrating considering he has the ball at half back so often.

I thought Bevan was sensational tonight along with J Bolton, Crouch and of course Goodes. I am also really happy Hally got a few including the winning goal.

We just needed to get the 4 points, so I'm happy from that point of view, I am convinced we will get better during the lead up to September, even allowing for potential disaster next week.

                          OK...

                          2 cents...

B1 - Great game. Another game like that and I'm in danger of getting a jumper with 24 on the backi.

Crouch - God. How much have we missed him?

BBBH - Working back into it.

Goodes - WTF were they thinking in the match ups? GTreat game but didn't they play into his hands?

Jolly - Can't understand why he was so flogged in the supercoach. OK IMHO.

Everitt- The cream does rise in the end doesn't it? Beaten all night but rose in the last. very important.

                          Bevan - the ascent continues.

Vez - Bit down from last week but promising still. Is it just me or is this MO'L's natural replacement?

Captain - Under and contributing, as always.

McVeigh - Tagged out but after last week, you'd expect that.

                          Ablett - Where's the Eski?

Bird - well done son. You're afuture club champiuon in the making. Plays well above his weight (and experience).

                          Ted - Super Ted.

B2 - Yet another workman like performance. There's alo t of Roos in this guy. A real general in the backline.

Moore - not his best night but a real star in the making.

ROK - His worst game of the year - but still satisfactory

i thought we played a great team game tonight.... Should of pumped them but a win is more important than anything. A lot of fight shown when we went 14 points down in the last.... Well done boys.

Pav played mostly in the midfield and had the wood over LRT but he didn't kick it when he needed to, LRT marked it when he needed to, Swans win in a nail-biter.
Well done Hyphen, I reckon the coaching staff will be happy with your effort.
Pav needs to boot more than that, he is in the A class of footballers.

Great summary RP...although after that mark I am in danger of getting number 42 on my back and changing my name to Connolly.

Am just back from the Riser. Place was a bundle of nerves in the last quarter. I felt physically ill at the end of the game. Had killer wasps doing the tarantella in my belly.

The positives, well we won when everything looked lost midway through the last quarter. Our forward line with Goodes at FF & Hall at CHF worked a treat. Vespremi is also making a name for himself as a handy forward as well. Great promise. And a couple of times Jack started roving the packs on half forward from bounces. This is where I think he can really damage teams as he is lightning quick and is a bit of a goalsneak I reckon.

The negatives, well if you can't beat Freo at home, do you really deserve to be in the finals? Defensively only Bevan Tagdh & Mattner (who looks heaps older with his new haircut) & of course Craig Bolton got the ball out with any sense of conviction. The ten million handpasses looks a million dollars when they work. When they are fired anywhere it is truly nerves-central. I dread to think of how the Cats will make us pay for turnovers next week.

We badly miss Malceski (& to a lesser extent Leo Barry) in defence. Goodes I think will be nursed through the finals in the forward line. It worked a treat but we badly miss the drive we get from him when he is playing his natural game and just running with the flight of the ball at will. Having said that he showed that even 50% fit he is an out & out champion. The fact he went SO well was astounding actually. It is a string to Roos' bow that he can pull out to mix things up a bit.

To be honest I thought Brennan went ok tonight. A spot on the wing suits him. He is tall, can mark a footy & seems to be better kicking when it isn't crucial & out of defence or in attack from a set shot. Grundy is slowly warming to be as a defender. Still reckon he is better as a forward pocket or HFF but we all know the reasons we are playing him in the backline. Still lacks pace to me. Not suited to our sprints out of defence when the handballs are flying everywhere.

I'm not expecting to get within 8 goals of the Cats next Saturdat. So anything inside that as far as I'm concerned is a bonus.

Come out & surprise us all next weekend Swans!
