Worse than that we played at VFL standard. They were not much better than us on paper but they make us look entirely second rate.

LRT is not a footballer's jockstrap but tonight was not just his fault. If the midfield is pasted and we can't get the ball over half way for 15 minutes the defence will certainly look second rate

we are so slow all over the park it is incredible. we desperately need some outside midfielders that can run and concetrate on getting the ball - to have leon david run us ragged, shane o'bree run away from jude, everyone run away from kirky etc it is just embarassing
I just saw a couple of Ethiopians who can run fast... maybe....

Round 14 this year and Wallsy says on the couch we're premiership contenders who are in the mix and flying under the radar.

Don't listen to 'em. They're paid to spout stuff that divides opinion and draws attention. Sheahan and Walls have no foresight or recollection, they just judge the situation based on the current trends. How often does Healy mention how wrong one of them was about a previous prediction? Constantly.

You won't get to many arguments about Walls & Sheahan being two faced, short sighted, lying pricks around these parts..

One statement sums up where we are at as at tonight...."no good".

Time to tee off on a number of genuine passengers.

Ted Richards... now Teddy was sent up forward to "mix" it up and confuse the Pies. I was sitting on level 2 behind the Lockett goals. 2nd Q, Teddy strolls around like a lost soul, stood flat footed, played behind, didn't lead, didn't chase and could only be described as a very lazy footballer. Disposal is an absolute disgrace.

LRT...horrible. I can't believe a man can drop so many handball receives and some of his cross ground stuff is breathtaking.

Leo Barry....stunningly inept performance. Appears over the hill.

Crouch...too old. Got a few centre breaks but just couldn't keep up as a midfielder.

Grundy.....Plays the wrong side of his opponent all the time. Got a few touches but is so slow. There was one incident in the 3rd Q where he was one out against Dawes who just strolled around him....form guide comment....NO.

Buchanan.... first half lamentable. In the second Q 20 metres from our goal the ball spilled to a Collingwood player who was under the pump and Buchanan stood and looked at him and just let him walk away. His ineptness with the footy was awesome. He did though hit barry Hall lace out in the last Q but it looked from where I was he miskicked and happened to land with BBH.

Everitt... embarrasing as a Swans supporter to watch him. No doubt he backed the Pies cause all his taps went straight to them. I wonder how he has the energy to actually run onto the ground.

ROK...what's going on here. Refuses to kick the footy when clear and when he passes it lands 5-10 metres short.

Jack.... bloody shocking. He was on number 29 in the first half and was 100 metres from him at all times. Fumbled, not keen on the hard stuff, dropped marks and his passes oh so bad. Looked good in junk time with a couple of long kicks and a goal but the dropped mark on the boundary in the 3rd Q summed up his game. Has a long way to go. Looks like he needs to get his head out of his bum. Walks around like a bloody cocksparrow, and I mean walk.

Jolly...on the nose right now.(tried hard)

Commendations to...Kirk, J Bolton, C Bolton, Kennelly, Mattner, Hall (our BOG)
Bevan (just) Moore, Vesz, Goodes (second half)

Team...they seemed to play in a bunch through the centre but got caught out on the turnover because every time there was a Collingwood play alone outside on the wings. I would love a count on the number of handballs to players under the pump and the times went backwards. It was nausiating to watch players waxing it in the middle when we had plenty of one out situations up forward. Then when we went forward it was almost sideways to the 50 metres. Hall was on song and could have kicked 10 but they refused to get it in quick.

Are we looking at a very flawed game plan or just dumb footballers. I think the later.

Sack the centre line coach because I don't think I have seen a side get such a hiding on centre clearances. Our players were intent on tagging the Collingwood players (happens every week) and were behind their men every time. Everitt's mindless taps didn't help.

I agree with most of what nico has said.

I simply cant believe lrt plays every week as he cant defend bigs or smalls, is not an imposing mark, and is just seen by every opposition as the person to free up so he can get the ball because we all know he cant use it

grundy tries hard but is a project player in defence (like lrt !?)

buchanan is simply not good enough now that the dinky little kick is not paid

everitt - simply put bring back chambers

but overall it is the midfield which has just lost it. they just can't get it, cant stop the other team from getting it

That is what pisses me off the most. I struggled to remain interested and watch the game after the first quarter. Sadly it was more of the same crap football we always see when we play the Pies. No wonder we get such @@@@ TV ratings in Sydney. Who would sit through 4 quaters of that rubbish dished up tonight.

Me too. Considering all the players out of the Pies line up, tonight just proved we are exactly what the journos/commentators predicted at the start of the season. Old and slow. And FFS, how many times do players need to be told to man up. Is it not a basic of football to man up. Roos sitting on the bench looking completely lost didn't instill any confidence things could get better either.

Maybe the blokes sitting up in the box who get a better view of the game have a bit to answer for. Names such as Longmire and Allison come to mind. Maybe, just maybe this bloke they call "Horse" hasn't got a coaching gig because he is seen as no good by other clubs.

Get back in your box Roosey.

I sort of think that maybe Roos has been able to squeaze an amazing amount out of a team that individually isn't as good as the whole. Maybe with the aging team, this is what we are seeing now...?

Considering Roos has said for several reason that we are cortinas and we don't have the class of many other teams in the midfield. Am I guilty for not being a very good listener?

I have been saying this for a while, but our team was created for a brand of football that worked in 2005. But the laws of the game have changed in a number of ways which have hammered our style - stopped us from going for holding the ball, stopped the dinky barely 15 metres kicks, stopped shortish defenders from chopping hands, stopped strong forwards from pushing players under the ball, and brave players diving on the ball in close to stop it from escaping.

In short every change to the laws have worked against our game plan and the players we have recruited (who are all strong bodies designed to win stoppage or stop their opponent in a stoppage but not in a game based on speed and pace.

Last night I was talking to a pies fan who was remarkably sane - he said to me that our team was full of licurias - and they had moved licuria on because the game had passed him by.

The game has passed our entire midfield by sadly.
