Are you suggesting that North are anywhere near as good as Geelong.

If we play like we did against Geelong that night, we would beat any other side in the competition at present, bar maybe Hawthorn but it would be close.

Vespa will probably play on Saturday night, but there is no doubt at present he is not up to playing week in week out senior football and with the pace/intensity about to step up another level the match committee feel he aint ready at this stage.

If they think he needs a rest this week in the hope he can play next week (if we get through) then I am comfortable with that decision.

This demonstrates that you're absolutely clueless and don't even have a basic understanding about a team game like football.

FYI, different players play different roles, with some not focussed on possessions or goals that you see as the be-all. Crouch had a very good game last week based on the clear objectives set out for him - nullify a key opposition mid-fielder.

I can't believe I had to explain that to you

I am nervous - we just have to win. It is pouring here today so who will that benefit the most??

I think many posters on RWO thought our performance against Geelong was much better than it actually was, so I beg to differ on that one.

I am not suggesting North are as good as Geelong, but I think many are also not giving them enough respect. They've had a few shockers this year (last week the worst of all) but they also have a record second probably only to Geelong against other top 8 teams.

Re the selections, I agree that the omission of Vesz was very predictable mainly because he can really only play forward at the moment where the other smalls can rotate forward, midfield and back.

However, given we won't be winning the flag this year, would it not be better to give some finals experience to Vesz rather than a finals swansong to someone else? That is essentially what Roos forshadowed after the Collingwood game but seems to have been talked out of that mindset by the leadership group.

Thanks for saving me writing that DST. Cats & NM are very different teams.

My pref. would be for Pat to play - rotate him on/off and see what happens, just don't promise him much playing time.

We had a 'wet' game last week so hopefully it would benefit us

So you would play an unfit 18 year old with a couple of games experience on Shannon Grant in a final? Son ease back on that medication.

I never suggested it would be a straight swap. We have plenty of defensive midfielders, and few goalscorers. Seems a logical move to keep Vespremi in.

Yes, it's a new role for Patrick, probably the hardest position on the ground to play. It can be quite tricky choosing the right moment to run on and not get spotted by the interchange steward, but Vez is in pretty good form, he's been studying the tape of Jesse White's performance as the 19th man in Round 6 and we think he's up to it.

...Grundy replaced as one of the emergencies for Jesse White.

I wonder if that means that there is likely to be a change to our ruck team?
