FYI, different players play different roles, with some not focussed on possessions or goals that you see as the be-all. Crouch had a very good game last week based on the clear objectives set out for him - nullify a key opposition mid-fielder.

I can't believe I had to explain that to you
I'm afraid the game has moved on Bear, the role of the low possession nullifying tagger is dead in the modern game.

Geelong is the benchmark team - they don't have anyone in that role. A run with player needs to have an offensive side to their game

Well aware of that thank you. Just think we have too many players with a defensive mind-set and not enough players willing to take the game on.

Never said that we don't need both types.

This is the sort of @@@@ that can lead players to walk out on clubs. Imagine how bad Vez would be feeling right now.

He'll still take it on the chin though. Think of it as character building.

I'm sure he will, but he shouldn't have to.

And if people think this thread is an uproar, just wait and see what will happen if Ablett doesn't play well.

Speaking of Ablett, he should find himself extremely lucky to be there. I expect him to have a blinder.

For all we know it is a ploy and he knows he will be playing tomorrow night.

                I doubt it.

He bloody well better! There is Q marks over Bird's fitness I hear. Struggling with a groin. So Ves may get his in yet. But, Bird's been in the mid and I think its already been covered wuite well here that Ves aint up to a mid role yet.

I was discussing this with a friend of mine earlier today. The thing is, something has to happen to another player before Ves gets an in. Roos can't very well go up to Luke and say "Mate, you're not feeling that well I think u better sit this one out". So, perhaps a player could step aside but thats more unlikely because its a final.

                        Exactly.

Players aren't as willing to let niggling injuries get the better of them when it's finals time.

And it's annoying when people make these half cut excuses like "he's being dropped because 18 years olds can be inconsistent, so he could play badly this week." That's absolute wank.

I think Vez is probably smart enough to realise he's played 3 games of senior footy and is a first year rookie.
If he has any heart it will galvanise him like it did Melcho, McVeigh, Moore etc who all missed 2005.

Really should have been a new thread
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

News says ROK in doubt, rumours also about Bird's groin. We could have more changes!
