Buchanan was very good imo. Stats read well too: 14 kicks, 13 handballs for 27 disposals. 8 Marks, 9 Contested Possesions, 7Clearances and 4 inside 50's. (AFL website stats) Those are more then solid stats, and generally I thought he was very good with most of his disposals, a more then solid effort.

McVeigh had a superb night too- not a bad set of stats for him either. 13 Kicks, 12 Handballs, 2 marks, a goal, 16 contested Possessions and 8 clearances. He didnt kick the goals he has in some games this year, but he was very very good overall I thought.

After sitting through the rain and the blind goal umpire (coming soon to a VFA ground near you) couldn't help but think it is going be a night where nothing goes right.
The intensity that Sydney showed in the second half is what finals football is all about.
So pleasing to see the ball moved relativly quickly and kicked into space for Hall to run on to rather than directly at him and try to overcome the scragging to get to the ball.
Kirk simply brillant in the midfield and leading by example, ROK in great form including a very nice one handed mark with a North player hanging all over him, and thankfully had his kicking boots tonight. Also special mention to super ted in defence, a number of telling marks on the last line to repel North.
Son of Jimmy and Vez great games in the pressure of finals football.

What a great win. That second half is premiership form... I honestly think its a performance that would go close to beating Geelong. Can we reproduce it for 12 more quarters_

Just a small note on McVeigh... he is looked every inch like a top 3 draft pick tonight. We have a gun of a player there.

Well we have a great chance to beat the Bulldogs who would be starting to feel a little nervous given their own form hasn't been that great. Geelong, I think can tease you at times because it is possible to match them for periods of games (as we have done) but they seem to be able to go up another gear? Anyway it just adds anothe level of interest to this year's finals!

Best thing that can happen for us now is that the Saints beat the Cats to put them on the other side of the draw which will mean having to beat the Dogs and the Saints to make the GF.

Wonderful game, and great thread. Don't normally bother reading through the game threads when I get back from a match but this one was fun.

Really really pity those who didn't bother to go along tonight. Great fun down amongst the meagre but passionate crowd. Don't expect to be sleeping for another three hours. Have to watch a replay.

Yep I'm too pumped to go to sleep. I'm still shaking my head at the atmosphere that was created by such a small crowd. Makes you wonder what the noise would have been like at the SCG.

i agree with most of what nico has said other than to say

                          1. i didnt think lrt was too bad tonight (but that doesnt change my view that he is the worst player regularly getting a run in the afl)
                          2. i think buchanan would be a much better player and would probably receive more frees if he didnt dive all the time, and choose 20 metre passes into the heart of a defence
                          3. i think both ablett and bolton were critical in just banging the ball forwards and we needed that to occur tonight - the truth is you need indians as well as chiefs.
                          4. keneally has lost all confidence and while a good preseason and surgery might help, i wouldn't be surprised if this is his last year
                          5. before the finals started i assumed there were three teams we could beat and next weekend we will play the second - now all we need are for the saints to beat geelong and our passage might be at least even money

Me too. Pity there isnt a replay on tonight. I'm celebrating the great win with a superb bottle of red, which will at some point help induce sleep.

Wonderful win, and I can only echo the comments of everyone else who was there. Others have already spoken about the second half intensity, was terrific. Tonight's game, and the Freo game, were far and away the most passionate I've heard a Swans crowd this year.

Great win and i lost my voice at the game, especially after the terrible goal umpiring decision in the first Q...

Some things stood out tonight that were pretty easy to predict, although not popular with the expert opinions on RWO:

Vespa did very little and as a typically inconsistent first year player was rightly dropped.
Bevan was embarassed by Grant in one-on-one contests. A danger to our finals aspirations.
Leo held the backline together as usual.
Tadgh is a liability to us in 2008.
                                Our captains stood up.
We're too old, too slow and too good for NM.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.
