Round 21 v Collingwood, Telstra Dome.
BEST: Kirk, Hall, Jolly, J. Bolton, Buchanan
In about 10 minutes of football the pies manage to rack up more goals than the swans had possessions, to take a commanding 6 goal lead into the first break. It then became 7 goals by the next break and the pies looked faster and fitter and more skilled than the swans. The final margin was 8 goals, but the pies were never in doubt of losing the game. They came to play and blew the swans off the dome that night.
Hall and Moore finished with 3 goals each.

Round 22 v Brisbane, SCG.
BEST: Moore, McVeigh, Malceski, Veszpremi, Roberts-Thompson, Buchanan
No O'Keefe. No O'Loughlin. Brown and Bradshaw imposing up the other end.
Except for the first 15 minutes or so, the swans were the better team, and ploughed ahead increasing their lead at every break. Posting an emphatic 61 point victory. Surprisingly in such a win, hall only managed to score one goal. It was left to the new boys Moore and Veszpremi to kick 4 goals each. Poor kicking by both Brown and Bradshaw assisted the swans quest for a higher spot in the 8.

Elimination Final v Kangaroos, ANZ Stadium.
BEST: Kirk, O'Keefe, McVeigh, Hall, Richards, Buchanan, Jolly, Goodes
6th consecutive year of Finals footy for the swans, who snuck into 6 spot after some shock losses in the previous round.
The 19th player saga is revived, as is the tunnelling debate from round one. Former Swan Shannon Grant's final year in football could spur the Roos on. And will Veszpremi stay in the team or be dropped. He is dropped, but is a late inclusion as Bird misses with a groin strain.
Ticket sales are poor, and the weather is not much better, bringing back memories of the 1994 West Coast final in sever thunderstorms.
A cold and wet night greets the 19,000+ diehard fans. The first quarter is ferocious and fraught with controversy. Boomer Harvey is cleaned up by Leo Barry, and one of his own and has to leave the field for treatment. Kirk is pinged for HTB, when he clearly doesn't have it. Harvey returns to kick a goal when the ball appears to be over the line. The swans struggle to find the centre of the big sticks, and even though they kick 6 scoring shots to
5, the swans trail by 14 points.
A slightly better performance by the swans in the second term. Again controversy for the Kangaroos, but this time , it is a point, that clearly appeared to go through for a goal.
The swans peg the lead back to 10 points with some straighter kicking.
Whatever was said at half time work. As the swans, led by Kirk, picked up the work rate and poured on 8 goals to 4. The defence was working over time repelling almost every attack.
Grant in what may be his last game has gone missing. And the young boys are lifting their attack on the footy to help out their older team mates. It is now a 14 point lead to the swans. Still a long way to go.
Another goal blitz by the swans, and the Roos have no answer, 5.1 to 1.4 and the result is put beyond doubt, to ensure the 2008 season of the swans is still alive.
Hall, Goodes and Jack (much to his fathers delight) kicked 3 each.

Semi v Bulldogs, MCG.
BEST: Hall, C Bolton, Kirk, Kennelly, McVeigh
In contrast to Sydneys dismal weather the previous week, Melbourne served up a warm and balmy night, perfect for football.
The game started fairly even, with both sides a bit tentative going forward as the defence from both sides, was working hard to prevent scoring. The swans backline imparticular looked like a well oiled machined, and worked extremely well together repelling attack after attack. The swans by a single point at qtr time.
As has been the habit of the dogs in their previous 2 encounters with the swans, they have blown the game open with an explosive 2nd term. But the Swans weathered the storm to only trail by 2 points. The signs however weren't good, as the dogs legspeed and skillful delivery of the ball seemed to be getting better as the game progressed. As Higgins was about to line up for a shot at goal, the umpire suddenly took the ball from him gave to Kennelly, marched him 100 metres up the other end of the ground, for a free shot at goal, that promptly hit the post. Hall and the LRT, via a 50m penalty gave the swans the lead, but the Dogs wrested it back by all too quickly.
The dogs, again, came out with a renewed vigour, and the swans battled hard to stay in touch but 6 behinds to 5.4 was all they could manage. The dogs only led by 4 goals, when Hall lined up for a shot right on 50 minutes, which resulted in a point. The ball wa then carried almost the length of the ground by Griffen, who finished his good work with a goal, which turned a possible 3 goal lead into a 5 goal lead in a matter of a minute.
In the 4th qtr the swans kicked straighter, but it was all too late as the dogs had their measure, and improved on their 3 qtr time lead, to finish 6 goals in front to end the Swans 2008 Campaign.
Hall, the only multiple goal kicker for the swans, finished with 4 goals.

Congratulations to Brett Kirk, 2008 Troy Luff Medallist. 2nd player to win a second TLM, adding to his 2004 win. O'Keefe and Goodes filled 2nd and 3rd respectively, without scoring a vote in the final game. McVeigh came 4th in the same year he won the Bob Skilton Medal. While Halls 5 votes put him in outright 5th spot.Comment

Well done Scott (and anyone else involved) in compiling the much vaunted TLM.
Well done also to LK & 573v30 for voting in every round.
Some rounds it was difficult to decide who to vote for (the round 17 game against the Crows springs to mind).
Just a suggestion for next year would it be possible for us to have the option to vote for 1, 2 or 3 players and not have to choose 1, 2 and 3? Sometimes it was easy to choose the BSOG & sometimes the SBSOG but difficult to choose the TBSOG.Bring it on!Comment
