Because he's a very very good player who's a professional; I'm sure that Vespa (among millions of other examples) didn't "want to" go to Sydney if he were given a choice, but once selected to come here, he buckled down and got on with it. And because 'as soon as he can' is at the end of a 3 year contract, which is all the productive time anyone's banking on getting from him anyway.
The alternative is that he leaves Sydney and only demands (and accepts) a 1 year contract in the PSD, meaning that come end 2009 he's a 28 year old trying to flog himself to his 3rd club in 15 months. That doesn't equal a big payday (and an even smaller one if he hasn't shone at his non-desired club in '09).Comment

Leaving aside the pluses and minuses of Rhyce Shaw as a player and bloke, for list balance absolutely the last freakin' thing we need is another 27yo. (27 next week-- happy birthday, Rhyce.) Go through our list-- it's like we're trying to set an all-time record for the highest number of retirements ever in a club, at the end of season 2012.Comment

Trade week is a farce! All those recruiters getting paid a weeks salary and expenses to achieve almost nothing. Surely they can achieve as little in one day as they do in five.

He is a quality player for a bargain who averaged over 20 disposals a game we'll get a few good years out of him and it cost us nothing.
As long as we keep giving the kids a game which we did this year it should strenghten us.
It's good for us i would much rather Rhyce Shaw on the ground than Luke AblettComment

This year averaged 2.8 clangers with and disposal effectiveness of 72% which is with the AFL average being 74% so in terms of statistics that isnt too bad. I know that stats dont say it all but i think you will be suprised he is a quality player for a bargain.
You are being over critical and you will eat your words just like all the doubters of the mighty McVeighComment

A lot of Shaw's possessions are running around half back and chipping it. His disposal forward is average. The chipping football is how he gets his disposal effectiveness up to a barely adequate 72%.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
