Because he's a very very good player who's a professional; I'm sure that Vespa (among millions of other examples) didn't "want to" go to Sydney if he were given a choice, but once selected to come here, he buckled down and got on with it. And because 'as soon as he can' is at the end of a 3 year contract, which is all the productive time anyone's banking on getting from him anyway.

The alternative is that he leaves Sydney and only demands (and accepts) a 1 year contract in the PSD, meaning that come end 2009 he's a 28 year old trying to flog himself to his 3rd club in 15 months. That doesn't equal a big payday (and an even smaller one if he hasn't shone at his non-desired club in '09).

And recommends the junkie Cousins! Plugger smashed him and Big Beamish should have let him have it. Wakelin is a rat.

Leaving aside the pluses and minuses of Rhyce Shaw as a player and bloke, for list balance absolutely the last freakin' thing we need is another 27yo. (27 next week-- happy birthday, Rhyce.) Go through our list-- it's like we're trying to set an all-time record for the highest number of retirements ever in a club, at the end of season 2012.

Trade week is a farce! All those recruiters getting paid a weeks salary and expenses to achieve almost nothing. Surely they can achieve as little in one day as they do in five.

Getting Shaw is pretty pointless. Yeah we lack pace but we could easily of picked up a kid with pace in the draft. Now we have yet another 28 year old.

                Dumb, dumb, dumb.

He is a quality player for a bargain who averaged over 20 disposals a game we'll get a few good years out of him and it cost us nothing.
As long as we keep giving the kids a game which we did this year it should strenghten us.
It's good for us i would much rather Rhyce Shaw on the ground than Luke Ablett

Rhyce Shaw is average at best.

I wouldn't class him as being a "quality player".

He averaged over 20 touches in 20 games this year. I would say that would be enough to qualify as a 'quality' player, would you?

There is more to footy than racking up posessions.

His disposal is ordinary, he tends to turn the ball over a fair bit. That's the last thing we need. In general he just isn't a smart footballer either.

Simon Arnott did that for Geelong...

This year averaged 2.8 clangers with and disposal effectiveness of 72% which is with the AFL average being 74% so in terms of statistics that isnt too bad. I know that stats dont say it all but i think you will be suprised he is a quality player for a bargain.
You are being over critical and you will eat your words just like all the doubters of the mighty McVeigh

McVeigh actually has some football smarts though.

A lot of Shaw's possessions are running around half back and chipping it. His disposal forward is average. The chipping football is how he gets his disposal effectiveness up to a barely adequate 72%.
