So perhaps not hypocritical. My point still stands though. Our list is not good enough to get us to a grand final. It's not good enough for us to compete on a weekly basis with the likes of Geelong, Hawthorn, the Doggies, etc. Our second-string ruckman is yet to debut. Hall and Magic are a long way past their best, and this could well be their last year. Goodes' future prospects are iffy (he could go either way). We've lost Fossie (unlikely he'll play another seniors match), who was in my opinion one of our most important midfielders in our golden years. We've yet to find a replacement for Paul Williams. Our backline is not nearly as solid as it used to be.

Our forwards aren't as mobile or as strong. Our backline isn't as stingy. Our midfield isn't as fast. All our potential is in our kids, and kids aren't what win you Premierships. It's what those kids turn into that win you them. That's why Cousins would be a complete waste of time. This isn't being pessimistic. I'm very optimistic about our young talent. I just think that our success isn't going to come next year, or the year after, but rather in 3-4 years time.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

yeah, thats what they said for 72 years....could not step up to the MARK.....our list in 2005 wasn't that good.... look at the game where nick davis starred and saved our arses. That wasn't grand final material except for one difference: Swans were hungry. Then they went on with the job and got the cash. I don't believe that we are hungry enough for next season...anyone having a genuine crack at the flag could not pass over Cousins. This acceptance that we aren't up to the mark with talent and its implied acceptance that we won't reach the heights of 2005 is unacceptable. The one per centers can turn the game...look at the eagles v swans clashes....a point each way...titanic struggles...great football....i'd rather have cuz playing for us....could be the difference....our new Diesel..than playing against us. Time will tell.....

I'm sick of the sound of some Swans supporters whining about not getting Cousins. Fair dinkum, some people on this forum would recruit the devil himself if he could play. You forget the choice - If Cousins is still on the gear no club would want him. If he's not still on it, he won't be the same running machine who no doubt based his hard training on the use of amphetamines. He hasn't kicked a ball for 18 months and you are all falling for the hype and some twisted idea about what is best for our team. You are like toddlers who covet the toys of other kids even if they are broken. Time to grow up and get out of fantasy world!

I'm sick of all those who refuse to offer someone a second chance and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Every team had the chance to draft Cousins, and I think 15 of them will be regretting it.

I agree, in life all of us get a second chance and a third and a.......(you know what I mean). I hope he proves every other team wrong and plays the season of his life.

He had about 6 chances at the eagles! If he couldn't play no one would even mention more chances. "Chances" is a convenient excuse for taking on a guy who doesn't deserve another go when there are other young blokes who miss out and have done all the hard yards clean.

I'm whinging with the best of the them about a Cousinless Swans.

I just hope people realise that a few good seasons doesn't make a legacy. Fantasy land is where fans don't realise that Australian Rules ain't yet bedded down in Sydney and the Swans have to maximise appeal through results and excitement in order to broaden their base and thrive.

If his body holds up there will be plenty of gnashing of teeth as he kicks a winner or few. Looking forward to it. And when he plays us I'll be the bloke with the South Melbourne jumper cheering him on.....choke on it!

quite a lot of doubt actually.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

I have no great feelings either way regarding Cousins, but it will be interesting to see how his supporters on this forum and indeed the football world in general will react if his body gives out or if he quite simply doesn't have "it" any more.
