I don't think our administration has been tough enough on this issueComment
-
Just watched he's little video message, christ hasn't really got much to say, a whole minute, I've made longer speeches and farewells only two years at a job not ten years.
Management has been too soft on this whole issue with the two Irishmen going home early, bugger the contract attitude, my arse would be pineappled side ways if I broke my employement contract that I signed one year ago for three years.
You make a contract you stick to it.Comment

has anyone read this damn contract? everyone seems to know exactly what was in it but i doubt it resembles the everyday contracts most people on here may have signed.
i wouldn't be surprised if it contains not much more than something preventing you playing for another afl club and a whole bunch of clauses enabling the club to sack you for whatever they please.
he's retired from afl, like many before him. should he have retired before being sure about it? should he play on now that he is?
get over it.then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment

Have a look at the inside back page of today's (5th Feb) Daily Telegraph. In an article called "Merry in Kerry"
It accuses Kennelly as being a liar and provides examples to support this.
Kennelly is reported as saying to an Irish newspaper that the Swans will struggle "?nthe paddock" this year.
Kerry boss says Kennelly told him at Christmas that he was coming home even though on Jan 17 he was telling our papers he was staying for the year. The Swans are the last thing on his mind at the moment according to the Shamrock reporter.
Kerry boss said they have to find him a job. Could I suggest checking cows for pregnancy. Using his head instead of his hand.
He may have served the Swans well for the last 10 years but has really left a carton of eggs on the Swan's Management's faces now.
This is a reference to a reference of a quote of a paraphrase of a remark Kennelly is supposed to have made. Kevin Bacon is closer than that.
I've seen it reported that Kennelly has said, with reference to the Swans, that there's an inevitable "levelling off" after you win a flag. If that's what he's said, it's pretty accurate and hardly dissing the Bloods.
The story in the Tele could hardly be vaguer. And it's in the Tele.
It's disappointing Kennelly has left, and he could have handled it a lot better, but time to stop tilting at this windmill. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Except that we won it in 2005 and it is now 2009. Well and truly flatlined by now.
Poor player management to be flatlining in 09 i that case.
I don't think that there is any greater "levelling off"in 09 than what there was in 08 or 07.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

There was never any evidence that there was a contract except for hearsay.
Having said that, it seems neither side was aggrieved by the eventual outcome.
I think it was the singing dog that did it for the Swans Management.
Turn up the sound and you'll hear the A380's and 747's in the background of Kenellys 1 minute whatever you call it.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

We can guess there was an alleged contract, it was allegedly broken and compensation would have been allegedly paid. If not, I'm sure we would have heard more about it. All parties happy with outcome.
Going back to the the uncompensated matter that has been creating a wedge between Swan supporters, I thought of the following analogy:
Drafting Irish players on your list is like a horse racing syndicate running geldings. They can make you alot of money whilst racing but once their career is over, their value equates to a can of pet food.
There is the problem, does a Club get greedy and ""milk"" the gelding for all his worth and then be left with nothing, or should they trade the player whilst at his peak for a younger player who has demonstrated that he might be a 200 gamer? This is based on the assumption the player will not play on to retirement at 30 yrs plus.
We wouldn't have this result if we traded Kennelly at the end of 2007. The Swans knew he would not play to retirement age.
I feel sorry for Murphy now because he has become tainted in all this after what his two countrymen have done.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

Just because someone knows it to be a fact doesn't make it a fact unless it was properly released in the public domain.

Let's just pretend for a moment that he's not from Ireland but somewhere closer to north bondi. Would the swans have got that many more playing years out of his shoulder, groin and knees and anything else we don't know about? I don't think so. Perhaps his value to the swans could be in recruiting more top class geldings.Comment
