But they didn't. Facts are facts, not ifs and buts.

So long as you dont extend this table back to 1993......

      or earlier for that matter.

The only reason I mentioned it (the West coast season in 2008) is because the poster named Emarald hill said that the only reason Geelong is in 1st place and not the swans is because of the fantastic seasons Geelong had in 2007 and 2008. So at the end of the day based on facts and not ifs and buts, since 2003, we are the second most successful club.

Oh, alright then Johnno! I shouldn't have tried to promote us to "best team of the last 6 years". You're right - 573v30's figures show that Geelong has won more games than us since Roosy took over and we're the SECOND most successful AFL team since 2003. Could I just go back to my original post where I wondered how we could be struggling for members when we've been so good on the field? I can only assume that Annie H is correct about the economic situation being a factor because, since Roosy started coaching, Swans supporters have been taken on a fantastic, exhilarating ride and there's been no reason to "jump off!"

For completeness, in relation to the entire decade record, (ie since 2000), Sydney are still well placed, with the top 5, Brisbane, Port, Geelong, the Crows and the Swans, head and shoulders above the rest.

                  No offence was taken, Johnno!

I just wanted to "embellish" our already fantastic record, I suppose.

How could I possibly be upset at anyone who obviously knows the significance of the names Emerald Hill and Sandridge?

Well goswannies14 and johnno, maybe we should get some sort of South Melbourne FC and Port Melbourne FC group going.

When I was a kid, Dad would take me to watch South lose (usually) on the Saturday and the Borough win (usually) on the Sunday!

It's amazing how these threads get off the track, isn't it?

I started this thread bemoaning the Swans struggle to sustain memberships and am now looking for fellow South Melbourne/Port Melbourne supporters.

Think I might start a new thread, Johnno, and see what response we get!
