What a tops game. I'm so glad we lost. Anyone know where the "challenge" games are happening?

Teddy Richards ... was on fire.
McHack ... I told you NOT to kick goals! (Yes, I'm looking down the barrel of another year of keeping to the speed limit.)
Goodesy ... played the whole game.
    Shaw ... impressive.
B1 ... in headgear (good to see him getting his head over the footy again).
Oreal ... is very, very, very tall.

I loved it. Another great day at Manuka. I got a suntan and everything!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Bloody Oath! About time someone mentioned it! After reading all the praise on White's game on here i thought people must've been watching a different game! Tredrea looked like he was 23 again with White chasing him around all day! Don't get me wrong, i as much as everyone else wants him to make it and want him in the side in round 1 but our defensive coach needs to do a lot more work with him cos thats where we need him to play. Grundy looked a lot better when moved down there. Might not be an athlete like White but he knows how to play the game and use his body to advantage. McViegh is a gun and Bird looked like he had plenty of time and cleaner hands than most of the other youngsters! Jack cant kick unfortunately, how many more like that do we need in our 22? Shaw looked really good and will be better with more senior players in the side. I would have liked to see Johnston get a game but oh well. I really hope Currie can play cos poor old Jolly needs help and he'll be long retired before Pyke learns to play the game! Tough but needs to be said![/QUOTE]

Exactly, I have read all comments here and cant believe the praise being given to Jesse White. OK out of the 3 (White, Pyke and Orreal), he was by far the best, but overall, if he is going to be our 2nd ruckman....god help us. What I couldent believe and I think this happened 3 times during the game which resulted in Port goals is, how can our players not know it is play on if the ball is kicked backwards to them. That was very frustrating to watch. I hope I'm wrong here but based on yesterdays game it might be a long season coming up. I really dont think the kids are to it. I wasnt impressed with anyone really. Also, whats up with Currie, I remember seeing him in a Pre season game a couple of years ago and he blitzed against North I think, and never heard of him again. He should be the number 2 ruckman, and I am basing that on that game from 2 seasons ago.

I didnt see the game (damn you foxtel for going down on saturday night) Looks like you guys all saw a different ruck contest and sounds like White did not impress Roos too much.
Was White the only one singled out? That seems a bit harsh by Roos. I don't think he was completely pantsed by Tredrea at all, and even if he was Warren's a pretty experienced guy and it wouldn't be a complete embaressment to get touched up by him, Port were clearly trying to use the game as a chance for him to find his legs.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Maybe I was a bit harsh with my previous post. Looking back on it, it is possible a lot of the senior players were not really giving 100%, I mean apparently Brett Kirk played and I swear I cant remember him doing anything really, I remember watching Port killing us in the stopages and late in the game I was convinced(after seeing Port once again clear a stopage very easily) that we were not going 100% in this game.

Saw the game down the pub -

White was lousy down back but did OK up front.
              Grundy was good
              Jack couldn't kick
              McHack was great
Ruckmen a worry. Where is LRT to come save us?

Love how much coverage the Official Paper of the Swans gave us today. lol

I wouldnt be getting too down on yesterdays result, as has been said Port are a good side who went out almost full strength. Mcveigh and Shaw look set for big seasons ahead and Bird was outstanding compared to the other Youngsters. Alot of people keep knocking his pace which i find a bit funny, it doesnt matter how quick/athletic you are if you dont know the right place to run . He also does great work out of the packs and his Eff yesterday was 91% and had the most disposals so i dont see much wrong with that. Can see know why Roosey was talking about him being a 200 plus game player last year
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

Actually, just read it on the Age website. For Pyke and Orreal to be singled out for having done well at the same time as singling White out for having been poor, and to the extent that he says he's going to give someone else a chance for that sport, really is puzzling to me.

                      Harsh but true.

The guy sitting in front of us at the game got so excited that they won (... in that he turned around to us and said ha ha sucked in).

He came back down to earth when I said that Port are more than welcome to take the ansett cup home and put it in the "good" cupboard, the only silverware the swans are interested in is the premiership cup.

THE result really was as expected, the same as it is year after year. But, compared at least to last year, there are two significant differences for the Swans after yesterday's NAB Cup loss to Port Adelaide - no players suffered season-ending injuries, and after their 65-point loss, this time there will be no tanking allegations or investigations.

Well after 10 or so minutes when we were leading 18 points to 1 and dominating possession, I thought that the boys might be taking this one a bit more seriously this time.

GOD, I hope so Annie. I dont mean to sound negative here, believe it or not I'm not a negative person, I mean even in the early 90's when we were on that huge losing streak, I went into every week thinking we could win, but god I hope you're right, because from what I saw, it didnt look good.
