I think Sid's point was that if he wasn't up to playing on Sat because of a death in the family, it seems strange to fly him back to Canberra to play a day later.

I agree it is a little strange but playing in Canberra would be no pressure and just a run around compared to having to be mentally focused and switched on for sturday night's game ... perhaps that kind of explains it??

Talk to clubs who have their kids go off to TAC clubs. The coaches will tell you that the kids today aren't necessarily the best players, if they don't meet height requirements they are overlooked. Many coaches get perplexed over how some of the kids are picked.

I've just watched the game for the first time tonight, and whilst I think it a bit harsh to consider Barlow as being soft, I couldn't count the number of times I just wished that he would attack the footy. He just always seems to be holding back, seemingly lacking confidence to win the footy for himself.

You can't teach height. I think this "soft" stuff is one person's opinion that somehow has morphed into pseudo fact. I was at the game on Saturday night and I didn't notice him avoid any contests.

It's how you attack the ball (or player with the ball) that is the point. No use being "in a contest" if you melt at point of impact.

I don't have a problem with the situation. First day you have got the shock of the death in the family, second day try and run off the shock. It's what I would have done, if I had been in that position - that's of course if any part of me could have! I am more likely to open a bottle of wine and a bag of macadamias, I rather think NOG's way of dealing with his problem more productive, and well blokey
