Give the kid a break, he would not have been expecting to play. He's not fit yet and ? had a cut foot.
I'm a bit perplexed by NOG not playing in Melb (fair enough) but playing in Canberra.

NOG didn't play because of the death of his cousin.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

I think Sid's point was that if he wasn't up to playing on Sat because of a death in the family, it seems strange to fly him back to Canberra to play a day later.

FWIW, I agree with Sid, it is perplexing.

I read that Roos said he played in Canberra to maintain his fitness ...

I agree it is a little strange but playing in Canberra would be no pressure and just a run around compared to having to be mentally focused and switched on for sturday night's game ... perhaps that kind of explains it??

I've just watched the game for the first time tonight, and whilst I think it a bit harsh to consider Barlow as being soft, I couldn't count the number of times I just wished that he would attack the footy. He just always seems to be holding back, seemingly lacking confidence to win the footy for himself.

A bit like Scott Stevens was when he was at the swans????

Tall, looked the goods occassionally, had good physical attributes but lacked the confidence to impose himself. Maybe we should trade him as soon as possible to Adelaide so he can flourish.

I agree that he didn't avoid contests.

It's how you attack the ball (or player with the ball) that is the point. No use being "in a contest" if you melt at point of impact.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.

Yep, that's exactly how I would describe him

I don't have a problem with the situation. First day you have got the shock of the death in the family, second day try and run off the shock. It's what I would have done, if I had been in that position - that's of course if any part of me could have! I am more likely to open a bottle of wine and a bag of macadamias, I rather think NOG's way of dealing with his problem more productive, and well blokey
