    Yep.

And if you saw the Richmond Vs Melbourne game today, I'm sure you'd agree that the Swans play spectacular football in comparison.
Seriously, they looked like two local footy sides.
    In fact worse than that.
Makes me think that I could pull on the boots and get a game.....

You can be entertained all you like watching the ball going from one end to the other like basketball (Essendon v North)but if either side had used their brains, manned up swans style, blocked off the direct route to goal, kept possession of the ball at all costs(even kicking backwards)that side might have looked unspectacular but it would have won.
Smart football is not necessarily pretty ,dumb football is sometimes great to watch if you don't care who wins

I think subconsciously they are tearing their hair out at the fact that their 'star' midfield of Judd & Steven continues to be so ineffectual against us. Many of their games are run-athons, so what they saw must have been a jolt to the system.

To be honest it was not a good spectacle. They fact we drew 30000 to watch that is a near miracle because in terms of entertainment value it was rather light-on at times. The SCG playing arena lends itself to this rugby union style clogged up stoppage-a-thon being so small. But if it works for us, who are we to argue with anyone?

What I want to see is for us to be able to switch from a stoppage based game to an attacking one when the game requires it. I really would prefer to NOT have to watch ball up after ball up at every game.

But despite all this we won & I'm pleased.

And why is that? Because he is NOT a backman. He is a forward. And a rather good goalsneak as well. If you play him on a HFF or in the FP he will be more than handy. Especially with Barry out.

Keep playing Grundy there Roosey. He is just too slow to be a backman!

This is a common misperception. In fact, in terms of total area, it is quite a big ground. Like the difference between someone who is 6'4" tall and 36" round compared with 5'9" tall and 44" round.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Doesn't it always!? You are not a fair dinkum Swans fanatic if you when watching the game live you don't think you are getting a hard run from the umps!

Is anyone in love with the guernseys as much as I am? I just thought they looked fantastic in the flesh. You had the white of the guernsey but the red sash & shorts to give us some colour. Even LRT looked half normal wearing it; it matched his hair colour better!

Who wants to see us wear that guernsey again? I dearly dearly do! It is THAT awesome!

Or should I say, it is short rather than small. Teams get lost on the wings, especially defensively. The Swans use this to their advantage, always going wide to this extra space outside the defensive net straight down the guts set by our opponents.

We'll see it again when we play Carlton in Melbourne later on in the season, so your wish is granted on that front. But if you want to see it before then, a few of us will have it on in Geelong to show you in a fortnight.

I found the numbers EXTREMELY difficult to pick up from a distance. The black on red was not good - tended to only be able to see the 2nd digit of players wearing 10+. The design in itself looks good, but some kind of outline on the numbers to make them stand out would be good.

                        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Try watching Geelong or the Dirty Dogs play.

Either way, I think you'll find that most people (including myself) are prepared to put up with the stop/start/possession game when it's needed, and that the most common complaint is that the Swans are very one-dimensional.
Would be really nice just to see them at least try and go straight down the guts for a change

That's twice in a row that Carlton have lost to a team wearing a red sash....

It was interesting when they put the stats up at 3/4 time and Carlton were dominating every stat but were behind on the scoreboard. I've seen Carlton twice this season; and for all the hype about them, what I've seen is a team that wastes the ball and doesn't use their periods of dominance to exert scoreboard pressure.
For the Swans, Rhys Shaw looks to be the signing of the season. Jude Bolton has impressed me, he did some good stuff yesterday.

He's not allowed to drop it (on purpose) when he gets tackled, remember. Incorrect disposal during a tackle - with no prior opportunity - is merely good work by the tackler and should never be a free kick. Unfortunately umpires (and fans) get this wrong way too much. Sometimes umpires incorrectly pay HTB when (as the commentators say) he "had it a long time." How long you have it is irrelevant if you have no prior opportunity and are doing your best to get a correct disposal. Also tacklers are not supposed to "be rewarded" for a good, great or even brilliant tackle unless there is prior opportunity. Lots of commentators (and fans and umpire) forget this.
                              Well clarified.
If we can yellow-stick your note onto the umpires locker room, ....

All we ask that the umpires are consistent in the correct (or wrong, obviously not preferred) calling for both teams in a game. Otherwise, it is exasperating as we can't officially complain of amaturish or biased-against-us umpiring - a great turn off, ruining a great footy game.

left that big area open that Macca ran into, a classic "Jason Ball" tap.
Thas was smart set up play indeed.

If I am not wrong, a great setup play, not mentioned here, could have been performed intentionally by Judd. When he was caught with the ball at least another two swans surfounding him, about 1 -2 metre I think, he simply hand-balled lop it high above the surrounding red players 2-3 metres to about 4 o'oclock direction without knowing if there are blue players there. Sure enough, the blues were waiting there and ran away with it. Our players were left standing. Now, it is a setup hand-ball over opponents players, it is very smart indeed if it was pre-planned hand-ball to 4 oclock. We need to start this kind of performing blind setup, similar to soccer player kicking blind backwards with their heels to set up positions.

Another great blue individual setup brilliance at the boundary. With the ball heading towards the boundary, a blue chasing it and a swan behind him, he tap the ball away from the boundary to the direction he wanted it to go and he make his adjustment to the ball redirection. That split second advantage would help to give him the ball and running with it instead of one-dimensioan of constantly allowing the ball to the the line for throw-in. If you are in neutral line area and when there is less opponents around, why dont the players try it?
