Three reasons why we can beat Geelong....

OK.... I've had a gutful of the whiners and the pessimists... It's a two horse race and we aren't the worst team in the league.....

    Here's why I think we can win;

    1. No Ablett, No Geelong. You can't remove a player of his calibre and NOT feel it.
    2. Our rucks will dominate. Jolly is just about best in comp at moment and will give us first access to the ball.
    3. MOL & BBBH have a game under their belt and look in great shape. MO'L kicked a few and BBBH was presenting beautifully. We have enough fire power to win.

    Geez, you're game!
OK. Mooney and Hawkins are big targets but not the most reliable kicks. If Bevan can hold Chapman (or tackle him hard and often enough) we are a good chance.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

The only hope is if this is 'the loss they had to have'.

The kid won't let us down Am really looking forward to the Bevantors match ups (its plural as Bevo is so versatile). Jack will probably get Stokes. LRT will go to Hawkins. We match up pretty well on their forward line. Geelong give us a chance if we can run off the half back line. Rhys Shaw is really important. If we can run it through the central spine Magic will trouble them. Thornton is such a strong mark hopefully he can float across the front of the contested packs and take a few grabs. The Geelong defense is vulnerable to quick leading forwards into space. If we just bomb are kick under pressure they will rebound.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I think they held there own last year when Ablett missed a few.

For the record, I'm not a pessimist. And I'm not superstitious. I just don't believe in tempting fate.

                  1. We have Pyke
                  2. Moore is our very own Chapman (younger better model)
                  3. Harley is coming to Sydney

                    * Geelong were headed by Melbourne last week. Melbourne.
                    * They're goalkicking is so poor they had goal practice this week.
                    * Our coach has launched an all-fronts charm offensive, stopping short of calling the Cats the greatest sportsmen who ever lived. Hall wrote a column about how much he loves Scarlett. Vicious! That'll soften 'em up.

Bonus reason: Geelong have tallied a record number of possessions twice in last two weeks. There's only one way for them to go.

When i saw the thread title i was certain the list would be:
                      1. Bevo in defense
                      2. Bevo sharking, scrounging, pulling down screamers up forward; and
                      3. Bevo off the chain.
This is a typical Bevantor set piece - underdog surrounded by pussies, backs to the wall, relief of Mafeking stuff. A day for strong bodies, hard heads and stout hearts. Step forward GNOB!

Harley did a half hour special with Mike Sheehan on Fox which aired last night.

His fiance lives and works in Sydney and he is resigned to the fact and appeared not to be unhappy that he will be moving to Sydney when he is finished with Geelong.

He made it clear he would like to remain if footy in some capacity, although not necessarily coaching. He likes the idea of admin and management.

On face value, he looks a real good fit for West Sydney, although by the time they are ready to go his playing value will be nil. I think his contract is up at the end of this season and I somehow got the feeling that he would jump at the chance to finish the end of his career in Sydney with his new wife.

It's not that far fetched a plan. He has given Geelong great service and if the heartstrings were pulling hard enough, I doubt they would stand in his way given their tremendous list.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
