OK.... I've had a gutful of the whiners and the pessimists... It's a two horse race and we aren't the worst team in the league.....
Here's why I think we can win;
1. No Ablett, No Geelong. You can't remove a player of his calibre and NOT feel it.
2. Our rucks will dominate. Jolly is just about best in comp at moment and will give us first access to the ball.
3. MOL & BBBH have a game under their belt and look in great shape. MO'L kicked a few and BBBH was presenting beautifully. We have enough fire power to win.
2. Jolly was horrible. To be a leading ruckman and get beaten so convincingly by two beginners is a disgrace.
3. BBBBH can't kick them when he doesn't receive it. Feed him, Feed him, FEED HIM!!!Comment

No one could have predicted that Johnston would carve up Bolton in the first twenty minutes. Bevo was put on to him, which was not the match up anyone forsaw. Our poor disposal into the forward line was disasterous and that particularly included Mattner, Malceski and Buchanon. Bevo's multiple match ups were on to players that were beating their opponents.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

That's one of Bolton's biggest strengths. If he can't stop a lead, he can usually at least force his opponent wide. When was the last time you saw Bolton trailing his opponent leading straight up the corridor? It doesn't happen often. Moving Bolton off SJ was possibly the worst move of the game, and it showed when Bolton was moved back onto him, and SJ didn't kick another goal (and barely touched it, for that matter).
Also, your claim that Bevo's matchups were on opponents that were already beating their opponents is ludicrous. There was barely a squeak heard from Stokes before Bevan was moved onto him. Suddenly, he kicks 3 goals.
I'm not a Bevo basher. I reckon he's been very solid this year, and was impressive last year. But his game against Geelong was a genuine shocker.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Johnson had 3 shots at goal, mostly from difficult angles, while on Bolton. Bevo was put onto him, which was a stupid move, because from that point on, Johnson was able to lead wherever he wanted and got a few very easy shots on goal, which he naturally converted. Basically, aside from that snap in the first quarter, every Johnson goal was from a shot in the corridor, and every goal was kicked on Bevo. When Bolton was on him, he didn't have a single shot from the corridor.

Really?? I mean really, really??? This is the time, and the thread for you to start questioning other people's opinions??? You really, truly, honestly believe that do you???
The kid won't let us down Am really looking forward to the Bevantors match ups (its plural as Bevo is so versatile). Jack will probably get Stokes. LRT will go to Hawkins. We match up pretty well on their forward line. Geelong give us a chance if we can run off the half back line. Rhys Shaw is really important. If we can run it through the central spine Magic will trouble them. Thornton is such a strong mark hopefully he can float across the front of the contested packs and take a few grabs. The Geelong defense is vulnerable to quick leading forwards into space. If we just bomb are kick under pressure they will rebound. When i saw the thread title i was certain the list would be:
1. Bevo in defense
2. Bevo sharking, scrounging, pulling down screamers up forward; and
3. Bevo off the chain.
This is a typical Bevantor set piece - underdog surrounded by pussies, backs to the wall, relief of Mafeking stuff. A day for strong bodies, hard heads and stout hearts. Step forward GNOB!Comment

Johnston's first goal came after Bevo had beaten him, handpassed to Bolton, who had the worst quarter for the club in his career, who fumbled, Bevan then tackled Johnston, forced the ball to spill and then Johnston got an easy handball from a Geelong forward who had beaten his opponent! The simple fact is Johnston was virtually unbeatable and any class forward after three misses will start kicking a few.Comment

Poor Bevo. He really did have a crapper of a day, didn't he?Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Well he did get multiple match ups and he did have his back to wall. Unfortunately Mafeking was over run. The second post was deliberately hyperbolic.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Unfortunately, whilst your post may have been proven to be correct, the only people to benefit from these events on the day, were wearing blue & white.Comment

Bevan started on Stokes who didn't get a touch until Roos put Bevo on Johnston who could have easily has three goals in the first fifteen minutes. The simple fact is Johnston was virtually unbeatable and any class forward after three misses will start kicking a few. One of the Stokes goals came after he beat Craig Bolton pointless (bevo was actually playing on the forward line at that stage) and froma turnover when Jolly was spoiled from a Bevo pass (which some are blaming Bevan for!!!) He didn't have a good day but some just went missing in action.Comment
