Probably agree, but we have seen enough when he has played and with the amount of retirements and possible de-listments he is probably core if he can get on the field in the later part of this year for the seniors.

Think if you add 5 to the ages on that list you get a fair indication who will be around for the next premiership tilt.

Excluding Schmidt, that leaves a core of 23. I don't think we will want to have any injuries.

Good point about 5 yrs to their ages. Paints a different picture. However if we go back 5 years how did our list compare considering we were bundled out in week 1 of the finals.

awesome thread guys, one of the best on here with some insightful inputs.

I agree with one reply in a Key Forward to replace Hally..
a few years ago the ? was asked whether power forwards were wanted or needed in the modern game.

Aside from geelong and west coast both with outstanding midfields compensated for lack of power forwards.

So yeah a 40 gamer with potential and not much of a run..
SOmeone like that yng Pies forward Rusling...

Problem is what power forward in their right mind would come to Sydney considering the midfield delivery???

Lockett and Hall were both considered "problem" players when they came here, looking for a change of scene. Don't see anyone who fits that bill, and teams are hardly going to trade away a potential Lockett...or Hall. They would be crucified by their fans!

The only chance we have is to develop from within. We look better in this regard in terms of potential than we have....ever (since moving to Sydney), aside from Micky O, but he was hardly developed as a KP.

Anyone of White, Pyke or Murphy have the potential to be a dominant force in the competition. The only questions are skill, talent, self belief, commitment and luck!

              5 years?

Why does everyone keep talking 5 years??

It doesn't take 5 years to build a premiership winning side....

we hit our bottom in 2002...premiership in 2005.. 3 years.

Brisbane won the spoon in 1998 if i recall correctly and won the premiership in 2001....again 3 years.

where were west coast in 2003?? 2004 they got smashed out of the finals by us week one....2005 grand final.

Every year there is a team in the top 4 who didn't make the 8 the year before..and premiership teams usually finish top 4 the year or 2 before so any team can go from nothing to a contender in 2-3years.

                Pardon?

Are you saying we have to get the spoon, then wait 3 years??

The 5 year comment came from analysing the list. By adding 5 years alot of the "young guns" we have will be in their prime.

(And alot of the dead wood will have moved on.)

The defense will be led by LRT and Bevan though....don't feel too good about that....

That would provide many heart in mouth moments, a bit like when Leo and LRT are in defence together.

LRT has been in excellent form most of this season so far ( bar 1 game). I think a lot of the negative sentament towards him is based on previous 2 seasons when he had foot problems. There is no doubt his kicking and decision making have improved remarkably this year. He's been kicking long down the wings and rarely misses his target. I'll repeat what I said in another thread, IMO he is fast becoming an excellent KP defender.

nonsense. he is a good trier but when one on one with a decent forward he has been beaten bar the hawthorn game.

he will never be an excellent kpp. but if he gives a contest thats about as much as we can ask.
