Malceski 32 touches 4 goals. Didn't say where he was playing though.
Whenever I've watched Mal play reserves, his position has been "everywhere". He would typically take a kick-in from a behind, line up another couple of times in the chain of possessions up the ground, and then land up in the forward 50 before the ball to accept a mark and a shot on goal.

So he was fringe dwelling playing outside?

I really like the sound of this:

Mike Pyke kicked a major as a result of his follow-up after a ruck contest.

Sounds as if he is getting to know where the ball might be.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Encouraging that Laidlaw is finally up and playing.

Should be given a run in the seniors very soon.

                Is he playing at present?

Hopefully if he is, he can string 10 or 12 game together and push for senior selection later in the year. Is a decent footballer when injury free and plenty of miles in his legs.

He is recovering from an arthroscope to repair knee cartilage damage. Gone for the season.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

(PS Did the fact that Tim Schmidt's career is over, pass entirely unannounced? I didn't realise it until now. Unfortunate bloke; perfect example of the principle that an entire career can turn on a bit of good or bad luck at a crucial time.)

The lesson from this game, should be 'get Laidlaw in the goddamn side, already'. On the limited evidence I've seen, he's a better player than his contemporaries Thornton and Brabazon. He's played 5 seconds games now, so no question as to his match-fitness. And he's been in the best players in most of them. There's also a ready swap, with Meredith due to be rested.
Or a very ordinary Amon Buchanan and he's a bit taller.

Gee I forgot about Ablett. Surely laidlaw must get a gig ahead of these 2 blokes, who by now must have run out of credits.
