2nd quarter fadeout - again! Third time in a row against the Bullies. At least we're consistent in that regard.

      Are there 2 LRT's?
Today was dreadful...somedays he manages to overcome his lack of pure skills to an admirable degree e.g. 2005 Grand Final...& he has played many fine games since...but too often he plays like he doesn't belong. It is such occasions when I get greyer at the very thought of 2 low skill (i.e. LRT / Grundy) lumberers on the backline at least some of the time together,
Throw in Shaw on an off day, Bevan off & on, & Mattner who often is Barryesque with his decision making / kicking & our back line can look awful, especially when the mid field can't get a kick. How does Ablett EVER get in the team not to mention midfield?
Well done Goodsy, Barry, Ryan, Captain Kirk & Crouchy...the rest???

The old story. We fell asleep for a quarter and got walloped.

I think the game is more revealing about where the Dogs are than the Swans. They're the prime challenger to the Cats and Saints.

The Swans are competitive when they're on, but they're still learning how to play four quarters.

@@@@ game!! 'cept for dog's supporters.

Goodes and Shaw about the only two trying, and even they keep @@@@ing it up!!
I too left the pub at half time, what a @@@@en disgraceful effort, geez I havent been that disappointed in the team for a long time! Big deal, so we made the score look respectable after half time. That loss has had us tumble out of the 8 and with hawks, pies and crows to come, dare I say it but it could be curtains for 09! It would take a miracle to beat the hawks at the G next week.

Before we hurl ourselves off the roller coaster, we do match up very well against the mayblooms (provided Craig Bolton is OK). They play a zone game which we can and have countered with our run and carry style of game. We are really troubled by quick, man on man defense against our running quarter and halfbacks. Significantly they all clangered today (not just LRT) because we came up against a very well coached, prepared and very fast midfield and forward line. The Bullie s have probably the quickest forward line in the comp and they just ran our running counter-attack down. The mistakes came from relentless pressure. Hats off to Eade and Willo. They may be coaching this years premiers.

Gahh ... I think I'll read this thread in the morning. I'm too shattered.

Oh well. It was fun being wildly optimistic for a week, there.

Don't panic just yet, we did the same thing against the same team twice last year.

We're every chance of beating Hawthorn, which is almost a must win now.

I think you need some of what I'm on! You've pegged us for four losses in a row!?! I think the hawks are simply hoping that we fade in a quarter against them. Once they're out of the way the pies will be thinking very hard about whether they are a decent side and the crows will be wishing they still had the wood over us!!!

                      Gooooo Swannnnnns!!!!

Roos stated it was one of the worst displays he's seen under his reign.

Yes how good is he? He really deserves to be in a team that allows him to be brilliant like Gary Ablett and Judd.

Now I'm sad. What a bizarre comment! Deserves to be elsewhere! How does team sport sound? How did you notice he was that good? Was it in the team he currently plays for? 2 Brownlows mean anything? In a @@@@ team? That does't do him justice?

Let's sack all the @@@@ players and then give all the good players to better teams and then we can cheer for...

I can't see many other positives to come out of being soundly beaten, and on the back of such terrible skill errors across the 1st half
I think you can all have some of what I'm on... Skill errors? Of course. That's what we do. The second quarter was a compilation of skill errors (that we're renouned for), piddly (if non-existent) free kicks and the Dogs lack of skill errors. We won a flag with all but the first (and we had some dreadful skill errors in that game too. Who can forget Ablett's pass to Cousins?).

We are as there-or-there-abouts as we have ever been. The only problem we have is within our control (ok, within their control). A game without our stupidity is a game where other teams don't have much hope. A bit of stupidity gives them hope. Too much stupidity and we lose (be it by a bit or a massive margin).

It seems to me that it's a game of hope (as a supporter). I hope that, each week, we don't do too many stupid things.

You misunderstood me I just meant that if he were surrounded by a great midfield like Judd was at West Coast and Abblett is at Geelong then he would be even better and would get the accolades he truly deserves.. I think he is great and I admire that he is a team player and I do admire that the Swans do play most times as a team and not individually. I get angry and upset when they lose too but I still think that the fact today was not a 100 point loss just makes me realise they are a team that do not give up. I also had a look at where we were in 2005 after round 10 and we were in 9th spot with 5 wins and 5 losses and 91.37% & West Coast were 9 wins and 1 loss in first spot with 145% so anything is possible we just need a bit of luck!
