I love it how this board calls for us to blood some kids and then get's upset when the team falls away in the last half.

FFS guys you can't have it both ways.

If we are going to play that many youngsters as a group, we are going to leave too much to too few. Hence why blokes like Richards and Grundy are going to get found out having to play beyond what they are capable of playing. Doesn't mean they can't play and contribute within a good team.

While some of our youngsters look decent enough they are just not capable of doing enough for a full game. Pretty much the same situation Adelaide found themselves in the last 18 months.

Effort was good today, game plan worked relatively well but just need to get more young guys into the team and give them 20 to 30 games each.

What....Im saying that his disposal overall was not great. Alright, and his commitment was very good but his disposal let him down at times. Anyway, the swans desperately need Bolton back, could have used him on Porps. Hopefully Schmidt can find some form in the reserves and come back. Same with Malceski. White needs to push forward more, and Currie needs to get some game time.

Well said..but still think Grundy is ponderous.

yes 5 last time and he gave bevan a lesson all day. Bevan is slow and played off him for some reason.

I think we did alright. Starting to get a few younger players into the team and some show promising signs. A number of the older players are really on their last legs, and some not so old really lack footy smarts. I think some major changes in the list are needed over the next few years.

Despite what connolly may say to defend him, Bevan's always been a poor one-on-one defender, he doesn't play tight enough and tends to panic and get outmarked. And he was way too slow for Porp today.

                  Well that was pretty dissapointing.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Totally agree. Hopefully a few more can debut before the end of the year.

We really need to test them and remove players from the list that can't play a part in the future.

It was alot better than I was expecting.

And I am a chronic depressive ....so for me to think positive is good.

Bazza has made some decisions about next year easier. Brabazon showed he is keen as mustard to be in the team.

Yeah it seems like we ran out of legs a little the young players were good in the first half but were barley sighted after half time. The first half is the future with the amount of young players in the team you would say the rebuild has already begun.

One positive tonight was Kieran Jack the little quiet achiever. He is just coming along nicely getting up to the 40 game mark playing tight on someone while still getting some touches and kicking goals could well be a gem of the future 23 touches and a goal not a bad day out.

Barlow Brabba and Smith showed a bit in the first half, i think big ed is going to change a few people's minds about him through the second half of the year though some of his kicking today left a little to be desired.

Its good just to see the Vespa get through a game he will only get better.

It might be time for big jesse just to have a couple of games in the 2's give Currie a debut and then let jesse smash it home for the last 3rd of the season

                        Not sure on Thornton

He and Mattner in the first half when we were on top were leading the charge.
thats pretty generous to goodes. i thought he was ordinary in each of the positions he played - ineffective as a loose man in defence, poor disposal and hands in the midfield, his kick from back pocket in the third was representative of his day i reckon

Bevan certainly wasn't great, but can only be held responsible for 1 of the Porpoises goals.

4th qtr) Hard to blame him for the Teddy/Two Dads holding the ball comedy act which led to the goal late.

3rd qtr) Hard to blame him for the Grundy(?) turnover on the outer wing when the ball came sailing back over their heads for an unmarked Porplyzia to run on to and goal.

1st qtr) Hard to blame him when Smith kicked it to him in front of the interchange bench but turned it over and the ball was quickly rebounded to an unmarked Porpoise.

                              Beautifully understated.

I guess with so many inexperienced players we were never going to maintain the first half momentum.

Like others have said, it was supposed to be a relaxing game without any expectations but they showed a bit of early promise and hopes were raised and dashed.

Some of the mistakes by Grundy and Goodes in the second half were woeful. But rather than focus on the negatives...

Hall had a good game but probably won't be there next week. Let's hope C. Bolton is back and one of the backline can go up front.

Vez showed some good signs, Mattner played his heart out as did Bolton and Kirk. Jolly and O'Keefe also did okay.

                              Faint praise, I know.
