Great win by the guys. 1 win outside 8.
    Yes.

Even though we won, and most of your other assessments were pretty much on the money. We missed Hall.
Yep - but we've fallen into the trap this year of being Hall conscious. he takes a few contested grabs every game but God I got sick of seeing him triple teamed, the ball hitting the deck and the bad guys running it out of our forward line. I think his teamates are intimidated by him and often end up choosing the wrong option for that reason.

We cracked the century without Hall and we did it with 10 goal scorers.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Some people are saying we would have won by 5 goals with Hall, but their logic is confusing. Even if he kicked 4 goals, that's probably 4 goals that our other players would have missed out on and as LA said he would have been triple teamed anyway.

DOn't know if its been mentioned but McVeigh may have done him hammy. Hopefully not, need him against Essendon. Overall I thought we beat a bery good North side, who nearly beat Bulldogs last week so def a positive result.

Also if Hall was playing, we may not have won. For all we know his presence prob would have led to a less influential performance from MOL, etc.

Now against any middle / top team that will stop us but we got away with it against North.
Solid Game - Bird stepped up in the last quarter.

Every time Jolly left the ground we lost the sequence of clearances.
            Excellent game from him today.
I never got to see the second half cause the pub decided to put it on the saints-cats game at half time! But geez the forward line looked ordinary in the first half without hally, I am quite and pleasantly surprised we won! We definately need hall next year!

We were very luck to be in the game in the first half. North's movement forward was very smooth, plenty of marks inside 50 but poor kicking stopped them holding a bigger lead. Conversely we were manufacturing goals out of seemingly nothing, without marking presence inside 50.

The 2nd half we were better, delivery forward looked sharper and we slowly ran over the top of the Roos.

Don't want to go through players name by name, but a couple of things I did notice - Barlow was solid, finally starting to find his feet, thought LRT was very solid all day and his goal was a bonus, Bird was strong again, but now needs to add a little bit of awareness to make up for his lack of foot speed, Shaw just runs all day and that helps us immeasurably when working off halfback (even if his skills aren't the greatest), Malceski is still too lazy, doesn't work hard enough to get his own ball, but on the upside, we did see a trademark Mal bullet to Goodes in the 4th that he just dropped - hopefully will be seeing more of that.

From what I've read and heard about the ressies, Schmidt might not be too far away, and hopefully White can come back in as a marking option up forward if they think his effort today was enough.

I guess it is one of those hypotheticals, where we'll never really know, but it was only north, And with some decent crumbers, like Vespa, who knows what may have happened today. MOL and Goodes both struggled to mark it up fwd, but then kicking over their heads, or to a pack situation dicin;t really help.

Yep, was mentioned late in the game, and on SEN. Shame, he had such a good game today.

Have to disagree on Bird today, though he has been run down a few times this year. He nearly always seems to make space, and today was no exception.

On this note the Elgin at Hawthorn has at least 2 screens devoted to each concurrent game, nice little pub too!

I thought we missed Hall. Sure, it is hard to know how his presence would have affected others but especially in the first half I thought a big target would have made a lot of difference.

Valuable last quarter by Bird, but for me his best play came towards the end of the first half, when he made three tackles in the space of about 30 seconds, and kept the ball tied up in our half of the ground. That half-time goal to Jude was pretty important.

Shame about McVeigh, if he's going to miss. His class was evident out there today.

Yes, we miss Hall. I still hope that he plays the season out and plays next year. We need him without a doubt in my opinion. On another note I was at The Chairman's Lunch today and I was very disappointed with the negativity portrayed by Colless I have been to the Chairman's lunch several times and always thought he was upbeat but very negative today!!

I love the fact that Jude always comes up with the goods when physchologically (sic) we need it, goal at half time being his special for this game.

I do enjoy Vespa's enjoyment of the game. We need a bit of spark to get the mob going. Sometimes we are a very boring crowd.

I appreciated the fact that Cheese was right in it times, on the ground. He obviously is not a ground dweller, out of his comfort zone, but he was at least willing this week.

I have a lot of time for Nick Smith. He has such an even contgribution.

Birdy needed to take ownership of his space in the Swans unit and I think today he stepped up.

AND I would like to add that I think that Keiran Jack had a cracker of shutdown roll on Boomer Harvey. Anyone else notice? Going in to watch a replay and see if I was right.
