Time for an AFL 'Bring Back The Biff' campaign, before he's even gone.

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

      please say it isn't so....

We have absolutely no-one to replace him.
sure put goodes in there, but at what expense...

SAD day for the club, you want your premiership captain to retirew from FOOTBALL from the club, not retire from the club, but play footy for someone else, ala JUDD....

Saw it coming. Still sad and annoying, but not particularly surprising.

Sad to see him go in this way (if he is going). Maybe he will announce that he will finishing up with the Swans at the end of the season.

IMO - I believe the club has handled Barry and his immaturity very well. They have given him several chances, but he continues to let himself and the team down.

          Brought it on himself unfortunately.

Just goes to show there are few fairy tales in football.

Interesting to look at the fortunes of (arguably) four of the biggest personalities/factors in the 2005 and 2006 premierships ...

Davo - without whom the grannie would have featured another team entirely - gone on a very sad and sour note

Cousins - sacked from club in disgrace

Hally - leaving - gone on an equally sad and sour and worse, probably avoidable note.

            Judd - wanted out

In fact ,I think the clubs public handling of Hall, over the last week, has been shameful.

Good luck and best wishes big fella.
I totally agree with this post. The Club hung him out to dry and I dont think he deserved that.

Just think this is very disappointing. The reality is that Hall was best for us as an aggressive lead up forward - without his aggression our forward line often looked weak.

Will wait to hear confirmation but mike sheahan seemed pretty certain on this last night anyway.

and to say that we play better without him is palpable nonsense. In the games where has been on this season he has been our only meaningful forward.

Couldn't agree more. Handled very poorly. Well, the Melbourne media have successfully brought down another career - watch them bang on about what a great player he was now

The club could certainly have handled this better, but he is ultimately responsible for his own stupid actions.

It is a shame to lose another useful player without compensation, but we had to build to a future without him anyway. May as well do it in a season where finals are already unlikely.

He did a lot for the club and should be remembered as one of the best players of the Sydney era.

I'm in this camp as well. The giving it to him with both barrels publicly (including after the hawthorn game) was just wrong. People criticise shaw for telling players in a really animated way on the field where to run - but to do what roos did after the hawthorn game and then subsequently was just really disappointing.

If you want to sack him do it in quiet privately - it was simply unnecessary to behave as the club did i reckon.

Seeya Baz. Best of luck, and give Akka a jab to the kidneys from us.

Not surprised, but disappointing all the same. Can't say he hasn't been given enough chances.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Sad it is as we has no body to step up and with Mick retiring things look dim.

Really sad that its ending this way though Barry has bought this upon himself . Nobody else, not the Melbourne Media, thats crap.
He simply hasnt adjusted to the new rules and the fact that we arent as good getting it to him the way he once did.

Been a great player with us and a PREMIERSHIP CAPTAIN .

God we will have heaps of money to throw around but no one to throw it at! No Leo, no Hall, no Tadgh, no O'Loughlin, maybe no Kirk, maybe no Crouch. We are in disarray! What is wrong with the Swans??

Bull@@@@, the club has never hung him out to dry.

He has been given plenty of chances privately and recently publicly to curb his ways and that has not worked.

As a club we are now about to start a substantial re-build and we just can't have this type of issues hurting the playing group next year.

It's a shame, because we really needed him next year to ease both White and Johnstone into the KP forward positions. but the negatives out way the positives at present in keeping him.
