We all got a bit confused, me accusing my other blood sister of being nuts when she said she saw Macca out there, and me saying no Pyke, and there he was after all. Macca probably came unstuck in the warm up, that's why we have emergencies.

When one door closes one more opens. White should play the rest of the season at full forward in the firsts.

Given this is the reserves thread, I'm guessing you mean DOK and not ROK?

I don't think they will cut DOK at the end of the season, now that he's starting to get a string of games together he is starting to show signs of why he was drafted. But still a fair way off IMO.

One problem with White, and not a criticism of him but a caution - the opponents. Mostly, he was isolated in the forward 50 and used his size and speed and strength against an amateur opponent. He won't get the luxury of ragdolling part-timers in the AFL. 8 and 12 is great, but . . .

Don't think anyone would take issue with that. But - and this is why I thought today's performance was significantly more impressive than last week's - he didn't just take marks from rag-dolling his opponents. One was a pack mark using his leap (not too dissimilar to one he took in the seniors the week Reg took his Capper mark). Others were on quick leads (and his pace is good even by AFL standard forwards), other he extended himself and used the full advantage of his height. Again his height (and decent extension) will earn him contested marks at senior level so long as his hands are secure.

And were his hands secure today...sweetly so.

Just as impressive was his conversion. After the first quarter, I don't think he missed one. And never looked like missing either, including a couple from 40m or so out.

And of course, we don't expect- or need - him to kick 8 or 12 each week. Just providing a genuine mobile target and kicking 3 or 4 a week would do fine as a starter.

Sorry didn't see this before. I don't think they put up the team lists, unless I blinked and missed it. But on the official web site they have him listed as playing. Can't say I saw anyone fitting your description though. Most of the toppies again were good today, they tried really hard, most fell off their attempted tackles but that's to be expected given the physical differences to the Tuggeranong players.

He dropped a couple and missed a couple of kicks in the first quarter but after that he was brilliant. Currie-like hands, wonderful timing of his jumps into contested marks, led hard and effectively when needed, much better off the deck than last week, and his kicking for goal was sublime. He was also very vocal in the forward line with his encouragement for others and congratulations when they kicked goals, even those he might have thought were "stolen" off him. In conceivable that he won't get a senior game next week, isn't it?
Yes it was and that was the improvement from last week when he missed a couple of gettable ones. Today he had shots from a variety of angles and he hit them brilliantly.

Big match against Queanbeyan next week. Win and we'll have a one and half game break over them, lose and we'll drop out of the top 4. With the match on the Sunday, after the seniors play on Saturday, we shouldn't lose anyone to emergency duty. Laidlaw was on the big screen at half time saying he'll be back next week as well. Might lose Schmidt depending on the severity of the injury.

He was in 52. Played mostly deep in defence. I don't remember him having much of the ball but looked to be well-built for an under 18's player.

                        Cheers

I was compltetely thrown when Pyke came on for his first ruck contest!! We watched for him in the warm up as we thought he might be a late change after not playing reserves but saw mcveigh so assumed he was playing ... i was very shocked to see a 38 on the ground!!!

was very happy i went out to see the reserves ... was a great game and very exciting to see white and hannebery doing really well ... was a heaps better game that watching the seniors!!!

                            I agree. White was outstanding.

Was that Coney playing out there or someone wearing his number jumper?.

I thought Murphy has a very long thumping kick and he should be too far off appearance in senior side.

Orreal is nearly as tall as Sydney Tower. Thought he did well too.

Amon's far too good to be playing against blokes from ACTAFL.

You'd think Murphy would get a game later in the year. Same with DOK.
