Roos just said on SEN that he was not considered because he had flu during the week.
Must have been close to selection given he was named as an emergency. Can someone check for a pimple on his tongue at the after match or is it a black tongue. Talk about covering his lemonade.

didn't think Moore was that good thought Hanners was better, who seemed to be doing a tagging job in the last. What impresses me about him is his balance, terrific foot skills and a high degree of equanimity under pressure
I still have reservations about Buchanan's performance. Selfish in taking some shots on goals in questionable positions and was adamant in taking on the tacklers. He'll get away with it at this level but won't at AFL level
MOD tough in defence worked hard can't fault his efforts but again kicking lets him down badly
Orreal rucked all day, effected numerous taps to advantage and was terrific
Murphys kicking has improved considerably. His set shots never looked like missing. Defensively I still have my concerns
When Murphy went forward was he CHF with White FF or vice versa?
Is this the future...?
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.
Really entertaining game of footy to start the day off - and none of the sluggish, low energy fare we saw the seniors dish off.
The Hawks were fantastic in the first half, offensively at least, and it was pretty much goal for goal until half time. I'm surprised they haven't won more games as they have some skilful midfielders, a smallish but agile forward line with some great marks for their sizes, and they play well-drilled, intelligent footy for a team at that level. Certainly looked more together than Ainslee last weekend.
Sadly they completely ran out of legs in the second half and the Swans just ran all over them.
Am amazed that Hanners isn't second on that "bests" list. I thought he was sensational right from the start. Won the clearance from the first centre bounce, got a free kick (and a 100m penalty from the second centre bounce) and just kept on with it. Knows exactly where to run to fnd the ball, is clean off the ground, tackles when it's his turn and distributes the ball with intelligence and class.
Thought Monty got better as the game went on and by the final term he was running amok. Don't agree necessarily with Ugg that it was a selfish game - the first time he was dropped back to the reserves this year I'd say he definitely played that way but today I thought he was playing primarily for the team rather than to garner attention.
Impressed by Thornton's steadiness in defence and he distributed the ball well. Also went forward, more in the first half, and snared a couple (including one that the scoreboard attributed to White - hence the adjustment to White's total down to a measily 11).
MOD is a sensational aerialist -really judges the flight of the ball well and times his jumps exceptionally even when he looks way out of posiiton. I thought he worked hard all morning - but as Ugg mentions, his kicking was non-descript and let him down.
I think poor Schmitty might have injured himself again. Started reasonably well but then about halfway through the second quarter seemed to be clutching his shoulder and don't think he reappeared at all after half-time.
I've seen Murphy play reasonably well defensively in the past but today he looked all at sea. His move to the forward line in the 3rd quarter looked like a mercy-mission but as Ugg has also mentioned, his kicking at goal was very secure. Don't think he took a contested mark in the forward line, which is probably the big question mark over him as a long-term forward.
Which brings me to White. Superb performance today, a few notches up from last week. He dropped a couple and missed a couple of kicks in the first quarter but after that he was brilliant. Currie-like hands, wonderful timing of his jumps into contested marks, led hard and effectively when needed, much better off the deck than last week, and his kicking for goal was sublime. He was also very vocal in the forward line with his encouragement for others and congratulations when they kicked goals, even those he might have thought were "stolen" off him. In conceivable that he won't get a senior game next week, isn't it?
As for the rest
Gilly - not his best game but had a couple of "oh yes" moments.
DOK - busy but not dominant. Made the most of his shots on goal.
Braba - didn't really seem to get into the game until the second half when the Swans over-ran the Hawks.
Moore - good in parts, solid in the middle and kicked a very nice goal from a snap in the pocket under a lot of physical pressure.
Orreal - should sleep well tonight after rucking the entire game (and to very good effect). Had enough energy to run forward and kick a goal from close range.
Gordon - reasonably busy, couple of good grabs.
RBN - looks to have bulked up a bit from last year when he looked like a gangling colt. Found a bit of the ball but seemed to lack a bit of confidence in what to do with it when he had it.

White mostly played leading out from the goal square, though he did wander up the ground on a few occasions.
When Murphy went forward, White maybe stayed even closer to goal. Not sure that Murphy was really playing a CHF role. "Loose man in the forward line" might be a better description.
Yes he did. Got a bit lost but my lordy lord he is a big unit.
It was a treat to watch the game, although Tuggers are at the bottom of the pack and had no really effective backline setup. Therefore Jesse had a big day out with 12 and a bit. Starting to mark over his head which pleases me especially - Monty played like he was having fun and not as a senior player stuck in the 2ss. Fingers taped, he has a fractured one.
Botton Noonan, Gilchrist, Gordon all were pretty good.
AND Jake Oreal rucked the whole game (by my estimate) and he is improving expedentially. Good on him.
AND ROK is working his way into being a keeper.
As for D. Hannerby, No. 4, Young Sir, he is definitely quick between the ears and can see out of the back of his head.
Kris Thornton was organising things well, and will probably makee another appearance in the 1s.
News on now, want to see the Barry Hall drive by. it was fabulous and he was emotional. All the Essendon fans (lots) stood as one with us.

Well if he did I apologise. Jeffers and I were looking closely and couldn't see him and when we saw McVeigh out there, who we thought was the most likely candidate to miss, we stopped looking. Actually saw McVeigh doing some of the warmup drills, not sure when they pulled the plug on him, but the ground announcer seemed to know about it so can't have been too sudden.

I got really confused because I could have sworn I saw Macca doing the warm-up and was looking for Pyke but couldn't see him. When he ran on to the ground when the teams came out for real I spent a few minutes trying to work out if someone else was missing, like Kirk or Jude.
Pretty dominant performance. White looked great out there, I'd like to see him play at CHF in these matches but he looked to be a bit underdone (so he may really have actually had the flu!).
liz you aren't nuts, we were looking for him and Pyke didn't run out to warmup with the seniors and McVeigh definitely did. I assume his hammy was feeling tight/he saw his brother and remembered that he'd probably get punched.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Exactly how i saw it.
