Well, blow me down with a feather (OTC)

Hadn't intended to watch OTC this week - it is usually depressing after an insipid performance - but needed something to watch while I ate my salmon and scrambled eggs and was about all that was watchable at the time.

Rather than completely slam the complete lack of "yoof" at the club, they actually reeled off close to half a dozen names - including the likes of Currie, Murphy, Hannebury as well as the more predictable Vez - and commented that Sydney has big big wraps on these players and reckons they really have some talent coming through. Even Jimmy and Mikey were gracious enough not to slam it as "rubbish" and commented that the footy world just needs to wait and see over the next couple of years.

Liz, perhaps we can start our own RWO Master Chef during the off season?

Create and name your most favourite footy recipe, inspired by your most favourite Swan. The Esky would be candidate for a few limp salad recipes at the moment. Perhaps a collapsed souffle!

Barry Hall inspired Hot Chile Tortillas - It's a knockout!

Tell 'em to shut up, and stick with the 'Swans have no youth and are destined for a long miserable time at the bottom of the table' party line.

Hey, scrambled eggs is a decent achievement for me. Generally I stick with just marmite on my midweek toast supper.

I am so going to enjoy bumping some of these threads up next year when the Eski returns to being a plate of spicy, sizzling fajitas.

I watched it also and was pleased to hear GH reel off the names of our future. No comments from Sheehan or Sir James but as Healy said "only Swans fans in Sydney"would know of them."
Being an ex Swan himself It's good to know that Healy still obviously watches us closely. Thank God BT wasn't on the show!

I have been dying to see some positive feedback re Swans from the media. Pity I don't have access to fox. Did watch some of OWAT on 1, and there was little mentioned except BB's exit. So good to hear that GH was interested and the others actually made positive comments.

To be fair to Healy, he is about the one Melbourne based commentator that actually does any research on the Sydney list.

However as usual whenever he does make favourable comment, he is invariably accused of Sydney bias. Would really love to see him go head to head with the balding troll Craig Hutchison, and show him up for the little knowledge he has re the Sydney list.

The other thing they mentioned was the need for a big name up forward and Hird was insistent that Fevola was the man for the job.

Healy shot him down quickly and repeatedly over that suggestion and I tend to agree with him. Not sure that Fev would fit the mould of the type of player that can re-invent himself by moving away from the spotlights of Melbourne. Healy kept saying Roughead was the one to go after.

While all this was going on Mike Sheehan sat between them doing his best impression of a bloke who can't swim being stuck in rising flood waters...

I think Clarko scared Sheahan last week. He looked too scared to say anything much of anything.

It felt to me that they had asked the swans to provide (or the swans themsleves had provided) a list of names of their future talent. While Healy is one of the few in the media to have some idea of the swans game, players etc, it seemed to me that while he had a list of names the comments went no further than an acknowledgement that Sydney themselves think they have a bunch of talented youngsters.

Even Healy wasnt able to give comment on whether he thought they were talented. As for Sheahan and Hird , they didnt have a clue, nor do I think they care. It must be heaven for the melbourne media to see fremantle, port, sydney, west coast all outside the eight and struggling.

Facts are, as a Melbourne based Swans supporter even I don't get a chance to see what standard our youngsters are at. Even thinking that the Melbourne media will know where our list is at is just stupid, so is the Melbourne media making comments as they have not seen it.

Snap! I too was eating scrambled eggs but also packing so didn't get to watch much. I'm like you Liz, find it difficult to watch after a lame loss.

The only reason the Swans were mentioned at the top of the OTC run sheet was so Hirdy could delight in how well his Dons were going - talk turned to them within 30 seconds of the game being raised (the Dons are ahead of where he thought they'd be etc).

Gerard (as usual) provides most insight into Swans, but even his talk last night was pretty thin - "we need a key forward". Well, knock us over with another feather! What a scoop! Do ya reckon - we need a key forward - really?!?! Who knew? Agree with him 100% about Roughhead though.

The (little) talk through the show about the Swans was superficial (as usual) and included a "highlights" run of our missed goals on the weekend. Gee - thanks sooo much for that Fox! Just what we needed to see!

And digressing a little - the oft mentioned Brian Taylor danced on our grave a bit in the Saints/Eagles coverage - along the lines of the Swans are GONE, GONE, GONE. Done and dusted, won't play finals, don't want to play finals, can't play finals etc. I am probably misquoting a bit, but you get the drift.

He could barely contain his delight. No idea why he hates us so much - it was his beloved pies that won a premiership in his final year (without him in the team) and the Tigers who won one in his first (when he was too wet behind the ears to feature).

All in all, footy viewing last night (and after we lose generally) just a big yawn. At least the netball is interesting on "One" and there are re-runs of everything elsewhere on Fox when not even Gerard can save the other soporific pair on the couch!

Advice for the season when feeling glum - it could be much, much worse - just ask Mark Harvey!
