Can Swans make Finals?

And there is a procedence for 10 wins and 12 losses,and a percentage of 95: the Brisbane Bears in 1995. Compare that with Richmond in 1966, who lost just 4 times all season, had a percentage of 123, and still failed to make the finals.

Even though finals weren't likely pre-weekend, post-weekend the equation is simple: no McVeigh, no finals.

We're short on class outside midfielders compared with our opponents, to start with-- we can't afford to go without a guy who's the best we've got by a long way. Dan Hannebery is an awesomely talented kid; but he's still a kid. I might reconsider my opinion if some mad professor can give us the 2007 Malceski back.

PS Start with Collingwood's 3 year record against us; add in our 2009 performance; mix in Collingwood's current form. Result: 'par' in R21 would be a 10 goal loss.

I totally agree with your assessment about the importance of McVeigh. But isn't it ironic that a recent RWO whipping boy (go back to 2004-2007), is now so important to the success of the team.

I am still being clocked over the back of the head for my opinion in the past. But he was crap to start with. So was Reg. That's why I am now more cautious with my opinions because I have worked out after years and years that the coaching staff may know a bit more than I do.....not much, but a bit. I am relatively careful about my opinion of Cheese these days.

Adelaide beats Hawthorn
Swans beat Geelong
Carlton beat Port
St Kilda beat Essendon

Round 21:
Brisbane beat Port
Hawthorn beat Richmond
Collingwood beat Swans
Essendon beat Fremantle

Round 22:
Swans beat Brisbane
Hawthorn beats Essendon
Port beats Kangas

(It goes along the lines of something like that)
Swans go through on percentage

The hawks' loss tonight now makes it increasingly likely that 10 wins will be enough. The main contingency is whether Carlton beat the Pahhhhhr this weekend. If they do, it's virtually set-- we only need 2 from the last 3 (which should maintain our percentage buffer) to make it. Given that even mad dogs and English cricket selectors would struggle to like us vs the Woods, that means this weekend is a grand final.

I went and put some money prior to the Hawks result on Swans makng the 8 at 14 to 1. It don't think it was the silliest bet I've ever made.

I think I'm either coming round to the idea we will make it or alternatively I am deluded as I was in 2005 and 2006.

Go the Blues
