I'll go just to see the ex Sans playing for the opposition, one of the the most inexplicable trades the Swans have ever made ... Sneider and Dempster for ........ ????

If you follow the code, you'll go to this game just to watch The Saints in full flight, and not to miss an unlikely upset should the Swans play out of their skins.

I am relaistic enough to simply enjoy a night of going to the footy and watching my team play and hopefully score an upset.
exactly!! yesterday was a scrappy game but for me the highlight of the drive to Canberra was seeing hannebery gets some nice touches and to see the promise of the future ... there are always some positives looking forward.

We got Meredith out of that trade, who is very promising. Probably needed another decent pick after trading our 2nd rounder for Mattner, so I'm not that unhappy about that trade.

Do people even bother to check what actually happened with the trade?

Not only the above occurred but it also meant a spot came up for Vespremi earlier than expected to replace Scheinder in the 22 which is a good thing.

At this point in time I would do the deal again as it was a win for all parties.

If they had stayed in Sydney chances are that Schneider would still be a lazy crumber missing goals every week and Dempster would be a fringe player if he was still listed at all. Moving underperforming players on is often in their best interests.

It was certainly in the club's best interests as it was very unlikely that either would be playing in the Swans next Premiership team and I see neither as leaders to mentor the next generation.

we may score an upset, but i highly doubt it..
still i will enjoy the game if we take them on and go down fighting and hopefully not by way of holding the game up or stppage feast.

i think if we are going to play our yngre guys then let them have a crack. we ahve nothing to lose...

oh yeah will DOK get a senior game or what?

About the only thing we have got going for us is that Ross Lyon has got absolutely nothing to pin a favourtism flag on us!!!!
Went on Saturday night (and to a few other St Kilda games this year) and one thing the Saints are not is quick.

What they do have however is a fantastic structure at present and a game plan that is being delivered across the whole 22 players that is denying their opposition any chance of moving the ball effectively from their own backline, through the middle to their attack.

It is forcing sides to stack the midfield and try and run and carry through the St Kilda zone and when they do this it leads to a poor disposal and the St Kilda structure is just allowing blokes like Goddard, Gram and their KP Defenders to just pick off the ball and move it back the other way quickly.

Will be interesting on Saturday night, expect us to spread real wide and try and move the ball as quickly as possible in the hope we can spread the zone and get the ball into the forward 50 more than 50 times.

Only way to win it will be if we get it into the 50 more than 50 times and take our chances from the wide shots at goal we may get.

I would have thought Moore was the beneficiary of the Schneider trade and Vesz benefitted from Davo's demise

also I think it's a bit unfair to say that both Schneider and Dempster would have definitely headed downhill had they stayed

In the past I think we were capable of a big upset. But this squad is not really in a position to do so and I suspect that our error rate under their intense pressure will bring us undone.

I can't see it happening, but in my history (55 years) of following the swans I have never wanted a win so much in a H&A match. Why are St Kilda supporters so bloody arrogant when they've won bugger-all for so long. When we won in 2005 we were humble in the process, so were Geelong, so were the Hawks especially after they won it. Every year I have to put up with this superior attitude from St Kilda supporters. A win for us this week, then straight sets out of the finals for the Saints would make for a perfect end to the season.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

Sure, who knows what would have happened had they stayed but people need to look at that trade in its entirety.

I don't think too many people would be unhappy about having Brett Meredith (or Marty Mattner for that matter) on our list, yet not many know how he got there.

Moore initially, but his inability to grab the spot lead to Vesz getting a gig earlier.

I didn't mention anything about Scheinder and Dempster being any worse if they stayed.

Facts are we efficetively traded both for Mattner and retained our second pick for Merideth.

On balance, for what the team needed we did well out of the trade as the flip side was both Moore and Vesz have both gotten game time that would not have been there if Scheinder had stayed.

Didn't mean to imply that you made that statement about Schneider and Dempster, that was another post.

Not sure about Moore not grabbing hold of the spot last year. It's only this year that he's been in and out of the side. Vesz is that impressive in any case I think they would have found a spot for him.
