Realistically, we are no chance. Will still watch it and enjoy it though.
I am pumped for the Saints game!

sensible. realistic. with a brain.
why is it impossible to look forward to see my team play but still have no expectation of winning (other than if they start with 16 and lose a player a quarter)
I'll be happy if we can get the ball over halfway - something that for two quarters down here and with a better side than we will put out this weekend - we didn't look like doing.
Are you also saying that you ARE looking forward to our team playing BUT with no expectation of winning?
Would appreciate some clarity on your statement. CheersSwannies for life!Comment

Early odds
Sydney $6.00
St Kilda $1.13

Yes... It will be a good chance for me to see the players I'll be using in my Supercoach finals up close and live. That way I can make an informed decision on which of the 20 or so that are contenders.
Oh yeah, none of them are Swans.Comment

It will be a dour struggle, not high scoring at all, as most swans vs saints games in the past have been, and I'm hoping this will be the case as I believe this is the only way we can win.
As far as game styles go, the rumours I have heard in relation to Ross Lyon and him getting the saints job is, he was asked what kind of game style he will bring to stkilda if given the job, in the interview, apparently his answer was something like...'the swans game style of recent years, but on steroids', and this is what got him the job.
Makes you wonder a little bit of this is true or not, and who was the master mind of this game style, Paul Roos or Ross Lyon? From what we have seen this year thus far, stkilda have certainly dominated all and sundry who have tried to challenge them. I'm just hoping that Paul Roos can muster up something this week to get the boys over the line against the saints.
As for me, on Saturday night I will be in Noble park on Saturday night, watching the game at a mates place, having a BBQ and drink, with 4 other friends, 3 of which are saints supporters. God do I hope we win.Comment

Don't think we'll win but it would be a rippper of a game to take home the points in.
BTW: I'm happy with the number of Swans in my Capper's 100 fantasy teamsComment

Moore initially, but his inability to grab the spot lead to Vesz getting a gig earlier.
I didn't mention anything about Scheinder and Dempster being any worse if they stayed.
Facts are we efficetively traded both for Mattner and retained our second pick for Merideth.
On balance, for what the team needed we did well out of the trade as the flip side was both Moore and Vesz have both gotten game time that would not have been there if Scheinder had stayed.
DST
I would love to still have both these.. highly skilled players in their mid 20's(something we have few of now) on our list.
BTW.. If we hadn't of traded them we still would of ended up with either Mattner or Meredith. To suggest we got both because of this terrible trade is misleading.
As a footnote to that, Meridith looks OK but Otten looks like a star of the future.
Anyway on a brighter note I too am looking forward to this game, even though an easy Saints win is on the cards. It will be interesting to see how our younger players cope with the Saints pressure.Last edited by ernie koala; 28 July 2009, 12:29 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... I'm kind of glad I'm missing going to the "G" and going to a Kindy trivia night instead. If its a cracker of a game I can watch it later.
But to be honest the way Saints are playing at the moment - its going to be a tough old night for our Swans.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Our time will come again.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I can remember the old days at the bottom of the pile just fine - no effort required just huge amounts of hope to get them through the lean years.Last edited by Wardy; 28 July 2009, 03:09 PM.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
