They need to get PLugger to spend a few sessions with White. If he can get his kicking sorted, he'll kick regular bags.
It's weird, because the week he kicked 11 in the reserves, his set shot kicking was exemplary. But this week and last, most of his efforts have been horrible off the boot. They haven't just been decent kicks that were a little off target.
Hopefully it's mostly between the ears. I think he has a good set shot technique somewhere within him. He is certainly showing he knows how to get the ball in dangerous positions - and it is great that he's showing he's far more than just a mark and kick player, with his non-set shot goals.
Proud of the way we played, we showed some real heart tonight.
We need to do everything we can to hold on to Jesse White.
Absolutely... should have kicked 6 against the best defense in the business. I'd be signing him to long term deal NOW.

I'm very very proud of the team and being a Swans supporter tonight but I'm angry and frustrated about the umpiring, particularly Findlay (23). He KILLED us tonight. We were the better side and the umpiring cost us the game IMO.
Great to see the lads have such a dip at it though. The kids are getting better and better.
Awesome performance by The Bloods. Saints looked like like blowing us away after the 3rd, so to come back and give em such a fright was fantastic.
They missed a lot of shots, Swans missed a lot.
They looked like they really enjpyed the running game. Went a bit defensive in the 3rd.
Am usually up in Brewongle, decided to sit on the boundary. Loved it.
Boy they cover some ground.
Shaw is amazingly quick.
Hannberry is super proactive, just what the team needs.
So close.
Fab game.

liz, do you think White's set shot run up has increased two fold tonight? Seemed to be of Michael Holding proportions, and yet at least twice got really close to the man on the mark.

I was wondering about his kicking given his success in the reserves. Dunstall and Lynch both made interesting comments that they thought his run up was too long and allowed for more time to make mistakes. For a new guy with lots of nerves still that's probably right.
Great game tonight my throat is so sore from yelling at the tv. The umpiring was as usual atrocious, the bit that gets me angry is they are not consistent with the decisions. Great effort by the whole team, they continue playing like that and bring some more kids on, the future looks good.

Certainly seemed to be taking a long run up. Sitting on the wing, and therefore with a sideways view of his shots, it is hard to see exactly what is going wrong. But I don't think it is a fundamental problem. He'll sort it. What matters is that he is showing he can time leads and has the pace to get a couple of metres on an opponent. And his hands are much more secure than they were last year.
Swans v Port Adelaide, 2002 anyone? (the Jared Poulton game)
Very similar scoreline to tonght's too if I'm not mistaken!
Felt we were stiff not to win this one, it really was a massive improvement on our efforts in previous weeks, very proud of their efforts!
But geez... whenever the game is close in the last quarter, Jude always seems to be there. I also have grave fears that O'Loughlin's legs will fall off before Round 22, he was already stretching before getting up when he took that mark!! His football brain is still as sharp as ever (terrific dish off to set up Ablett) but he really is on his last legs now.
I hate to say it now, but the Saints are still my preferred choice for the flag. They were incredibly lucky to get away with the win tonight, but their philosophy and game plan under Ross Lyon is the same as ours, he's really done a fantastic job with this team of front-runners and moulding them into a tight unit.
The Saints are a solid unit, it is a credit to Lyons, how could they be begrudged their 2nd flag?

Fantastic effort and a massive improvement on the team's efforts in the last few weeks, we probably would have won the game if White and MO'L had kicked straight! I'm not sure whether it was the feeling of having nothing to lose, but it was a much more spirited performance tonight.
It's funny -- whenever the scores are close in the last quarter... Jude is there to be found, somewhere. I do have grave fears that O'Loughlin's legs will drop off before Round 22 -- he actually started stretching before getting up when he took that mark!!

I thought the opposite. We played very well tonight but if they can barely scrape a win against the Swans kids playing hard footy the Saints are not going to make it throughbthe finals to be premiers. There will be 14 coaches watching that game tonight and thinking "Hmm the Saints are vulnerable. Very vulnerable." After the Cats lost to the Saints they have looked very wobbly. I wonder if the near-loss tonight may have the same result with the Saints?

I would because the clubs supporters are made up by a bunch of arrogant tossers. That and Stephen Milne - Case Closed
