    proud!

Tonight is the proudest I've been of a losing side since the 2006 GF.

To see our boys fight hard all night, from the youngest to the most senior players, displaying the Bloods' spirit until the final siren, for me brings hope for years to come. The TV shot after Kieren Jack goaled, of I think it was Bird & Hannebery converging on him to congratulate him... that's a promising sign for the future. Pyke's "pass" to Micky O. Not pretty, but he finally had the confidence to kick under pressure. Dan Hannebery showed some patches of brilliance but more patches of pure doggedness. Over the past few weeks Heath Grundy has stepped up and shown more accountability... but I think more importantly, his disposal immediately after taking "the big grab" in defence is more reliable, more thought through. Ed Barlow worked hard for much of the night and Jesse White showed patches.

Jolly worked himself beyond exhaustion but Mike Pyke stepped up to shoulder the load when needed. Still a work in progress, but hopefully working in the right direction. Crouchy tagged like the Crouch of old, I though.

I'm very proud of the all the guys tonight and proud of the passion that Roosy showed on the bench. Well done!

    God love em.
To bring it up to one point to St Kilda ... bloody brilliant.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Yes... although at the time I was devastated but your right it was a wonderful effort all round. Now to back that up next week and give Magic the day he so richly deserves.

Add me to the list of being a proud supporter tonight.

If someone told me a week ago whilst watching the Demons match that we'd lose by a points to the Saints, I would have said they were dreaming.

            very proud

Very proud of the Swannies tonight and i was one who cheered them off, i was very upset at the umpires but that is just a continueing story i am afraid.
Great to see the spirit and just plain bloody hard work by all concerned!!!!

Came down from Port Stephens and the trip home was great, lots of people asked about the Swannies and were very positive in their responses.

Great night, we lost but they were extremely competitive and showed some real class!!!

It's late, drowned my sorrows at not ending the Saints run. Feels like 2006 gf loss.

But I have not seen a performance like this for so long, probably since that last grand final. The intensity was remarkable, sure we didn't have some of the warriors of 05-06 but these young bloods got a taste of what is to be expected.

Bolton, Kirk, Goodes, O'keefe and Mcveigh all led the way for the like of Grundy, Jack, Barlow, White to follow. Jolly was brilliant, Grundy is a superb mark. White is definately a future key forward and will only improve.

Crouch was a pest and did exactly the job he made his own during that record consecutive games run.

Can only ponder what might have been. Sure the Saints missed their chance at killing us off in the 3rd quarter but they didn't. There were times where they genuinely did not know what to do due to the relentless pressure we applied. LRT was also gr8 against Kozzy. Craig Bolton is a champion.

The only downside was missing some real shots at goal. Micky O has the 2005 g/f yips and missed a sitter. White missed 2 easy ones and Hannebury hit the post. All crucial. The last gasp effort where McVeight flew along the pocket was cut short by his shorts being tugged...TIE UP YA STRIDES JARRAD!

The Saints can be beaten and the Swans proved it.

What a fantastic effort by our boys.We didn't have any passengers last night and we we're very unlucky not to be the team that stopped St Kidla's run.I was so impressed with the hardness of our boys and I did look up the stats and there were some great tackle numbers.I have never seen so many upper body injuries as there were on both sides and that was a result of the toughness of the game.It was fantasic to watch and boy,how proud did I feel of our swannies. We seriously have a good future ahead with our band of youngsters who each bring something special to the table.

Yeah, it's a weird one. I can't imagine that I would feel so good about a 1pt loss. There were no real passengers last night, even Ablett justified his position. As I stated in the game day thread, Jack is developing a great flat kick, the exact one Malceski is missing. Barlow is starting to match his potential, and actually get stuck into the game. God, I could go through the whole list praising them.

I will be unhappy if they don't reproduce that effort for Magic's 300.

I am so proud. I expected us to lose big time, huge time actually, and they restored their own pride and ours, and it was an exciting game. Like we used to have way back when. It felt like a Plugger Special game. I had a great time. And I don't have that sick feeling of whatifs. We had NO chance and we nearly got over the line. Next time, they know what they can do.

Bloody proud, though gutted at the same time.
Its the one thing this side has given as over 10 years, we play well against good opposition on the SCG. Wish we would $%$$% off the other venue.

Simply we had our chances to win and couldnt take them, though extremely proud of the way we fought all bloody night.
Slowly changing my mind on Heath Grundy & Ed Barlow as footballers.
                        Well done boys.

Agreed. Very proud of their efforts.
Thought Barlow was very good, Grundy showed his class as a backman. Hanneberry had a couple of average kicks, but most were very good, and he showed that he is going to be a very good AFL player. Jack was brilliant, Bird = future captain. Smith was very good, Pyke had his best performance, etc, etc. I was very happy.
