That was followed by a close win in Sydney, wasn't it?

With Macca out (poor bugger) and NicMal kicking 3 in ressies, I have already set up for next week.
        Bring back Mal.

The boys did MickyO proud. and don't you love Kirky's grin. Worth a mint that grin. Why haven't they tried to bottle it?

Mike Pyke had 24 hits outs today. Angus Graham of Richmond had 15 hit outs. Not only that, watching the Moose's palm downs, the guy has serious ability.

Last year, Mike Pyke was playing Rugby Union. Angus Graham has probably been playing since he was 3. Impressive.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

That was the Bloods spirit resurfacing - playing their hearts out for Mickey.

Adam Goodes was BOG but contributions from some of the young ones is really heartening. Kieran Jack is turning into a very good footballer, MOD carried his reserves form into the seniors, Smith is improving all the time.

Even Pyke looks like he is "getting it".

Loved Richmond's sportsmanship at the end, Cousins and Mickey looked like long lost friends when they were hugging.

Better kicking on goal and it could have been a 100 pt. win but there's a lot to look forward to next year. The forward set-up worked much better today.

I'll really miss MOL and his magic.

Yes, I'll up my praise on Pyke. His tap downs are fantastic, and LA, your comparison with the Richmond ruckman puts Mike's efforts into perspective.

Could return to the halcyon days of Ball & Jolly, With Jolly & Pyke, potentially some depth with Currie

                    From the press conference,

McVeigh - may not be back this year, usually takes 2-3 weeks to recover. Obviously he would want to play in R22 but they'll see what happens.
Crouch - bruise instead of muscle strain, actually came back on for 5 minutes or so, but then ruled him out for the game.

O'Dwyer's kicking seemed fine today...after hearing about him from the ressies match reports I was watching with my hands over my eyes to start with ..but he was fine.

Have got a lot of time for Smith.

I am proud of MOD. He stood up today and showed us his quality. Its taken a while b ut I think today he has shown he intends to be an AFL player. Good.

I think most of MOD's bad kicks come when he's running at full pace.

That's the first game I've seen in about 6 weeks as I've been overseas so made for very enjoyable afternoon recovering from jet lag!

Was great to see Hannerbury finally and he looks a real classy player. Smith and MOD are great signs for the future also.

The best game I've seen Jack play and I thought Moore was very good in close as well.

White is leading well and to the right spaces. Apart from a few he should have taken towards the end he has good hands. A solid summer spent practicing goal kicking is what's required. Longmire should make him his pet project - or better still get Plugger up here for a week or 2.

I thought the umpiring was well over the top. Don't know what the final count was but of the dubious ones, we must have finished a ratio of 70-30 in front.

A very good effort against a very ordinary side. What we have got back the last 2 weeks is the intensity and attack on the ball.

Goodes played as good a game as you can get at centre half forward. The stats after the game said he had something 16 scoring assists and got 222 points in the Supercoach Comp.

Good effort by MOD and Jack played his best game. What I liked about MOD was he was prepared to tackle and do the hard stuff. The impression I got from the 2's reports was that he was an outside player. Hanneberry did well and had a real purple patch in the 3rd quarter. He just finds space, is purposeful, is graceful and does something with the footy.

Pity about McVeigh because he was playing pretty good footy.

From a team perspective the passing has gone from zero to about 4 star in 2 weeks. The handball was clean and crisp. I thought we went too short in the last quarter and should have kept going long as we had stretched their defense all day by going long and direct.

The forward line pressure was as good as it has been all year.

Ed Barlow had a shocker. Liked Jude and Luke's goal kicking work in the first quarter.

Was at the G today and loved it. Yes, there was a slackening off in the final quarter, but with a bench of two, I reckon most of the blokes were knackered. Otherwise a very encouraging performance, even if Richmond are not the classiest opposition.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
