I am saying he stayed in the team and did his best and it wasn't half bad.
    No, more like three-quarters bad!

Now that was just plain mean. Booo, hiissss.

He may not be faabulous, but he never spectates or distances himself from the action. Give the man credit. He had a rotten preseason with dengi. I consider him to be an active contributer. There are 22 out there with widely varying degrees of talent and application, and not everyone is a Kirky or a McVeigh.

I wish just one of them had been a McVeigh!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I thought Bevan did well on his return.

We were in with a chance last night, but top-ranked teams usually find a way to win in the close ones.

Overall, I thought we played well for four quarters rather than the usual 2-3 and each week seem to be developing more cohesion within the team. We've had a lot of changes this year and it's taken a while to settle. 2010 is looking good.

Sorry if its been mentioned, but despite a pretty good game in his 250th, Goodes' two turnovers in the final few moments were very costly. Still a great effort from the boys and one that should give us plenty of hope for the future. Hanners is a gun
Also, good returns from Bevan and Barry, no longer the general of our defence but still has amazing courage

Finals is officially dead with St Kilda's loss. Essendon to remain in 8 unless they lose to Fremantle next week.

His work off the ball last night was very good.

He continually provided an outlet up forward, leading wide for teammates, although he was rarely used. This often created room behind him and allowed guys like MOL and White to lead into space.

His hustle to get the ball forward for MOL(?) goal in the last quarter was excellent, taking on 3 Geelong defenders and forcing it to spill free.

He also laid a very, very clever shepherd for Mattners snapped goal in the 3rd. It is barely captured on the TV, but he instantly moved in to take out a Geelong defender when MOL snapped the handball to Mattner. This allowed Mattner to steady and snap. Make no bones about it, without the Ablett move, Mattner would have had his kick smothered or at best a quick wild snap under pressure.

Sometimes players just have way better games than shows up on the TV and Abletts game last night was a perfect example.

                      Overall a good effort.

The bottom six brigade led by Barlow and Moore continue to let us down and ultimately cost us games and hence finals football in an even comp.

Even Bevan played a good game with no obvious clangers. Brace yourself for a shocker next week.

Leo slotted in nicely after 12 months off and very little preparation. Few players can do that in AFL football. Welcome back General.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Good Observations, stats can be very misleading.

I think comments about Moore's cross-goal pass are a little harsh. If O'Keefe had gone forward to meet the ball then it is likely he would have marked it instead of Corey.

Sideways footy in front of goal tho by LRT and Moore, are they trained to do this? It drives me crazy.

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of Ablett, but credit where credit is due and last night he deserved plenty of credit.

I'll still take the hug however.
