I actually think Nathan Brown could be good. We would get him for nothing in the pre season draft and he could be a good crumbing forward option until Vezpremi cements his spot.

Brown would be a real looker and shaker in the Sydney social pages. I believe the Swans need more of a gloss type attraction if they want to maintain/win back some of those superficial and fickle natured Sydney fans.

quote from Roos interview on AFL website

only chance of a big name signing is PSD. If Burgoyne still has a ridiculous price on his head we may be an outside chance

You said at the end of the season that it was unlikely the club would go chasing a big fish to replace your marquee players like Barry Hall or Michael O?Loughlin. There have been names like Brian Lake and Shaun Burgoyne floating around. Have you changed your position on going after a big name?

Brian Lake, we?ve never really had an interest in ? not because we don?t rate him as a player, but because we expected him to stay at the Bulldogs. Normally by this time of year, you?re aware of who may or may not be out and for what reasons they?re out, and whether they think Sydney might be a destination. Look, probably our position hasn?t changed. If one of them fell out at the end of trade week, clearly we?ve got enough room in our salary cap to be able to do something in the pre-season. But at this stage, like most clubs, we?re trying to work through who?s available and who?s not available. As it stands now, it?s unlikely we?ll go after a marquee player but you never say never.

Gosh its getting bad when even Swans Fans are bagging Swans Fans!!! What about the loyal 20,000 that turn up at EVERY game!!! Nah, its up to the publicity department to turn some of our boys into SHTars, and that may attract more people.

Its being called superficial and fickle that turn people off! If you are not even appreciated by the club then why bother! Its obvious you are held in poor regard when the Club call you names which are then repeated by fellow supporters.

The 20,000 figure is great if you want to be North Melbourne. I'm more concerned with boosting membership numbers and seats on bums to ensure a sustainable and competitive team. Let's just hope that we don't get whipped next year and find that our core support ain't as strong as we would like ? it?s not like we didn?t already have high churn even without the membership debacle this year.

Preferably administration of the club wouldn?t interfere with player recruitment and the football department in general. However, we still need to acknowledge that we need the players to be the core of marketing efforts (note how successful we thought the fans in the last round of ads were in generating interest). This means stars and guns and they are not necessarily the same. Roos said as much when he said we couldn?t afford to bottom out and that Sydney was a different market.

Now that will certainly get some publicity!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

On the footy show last night Crawford said he'd be amazed if the Hawks could pay $500,000 a year for Burgoyne. Newspapers articles have said that Shane would play for the Hawks for $600,000 but is demanding $750,000 to play for either the Bombers or Demons.

Can't wait to see how the Hawks balance their finances with their list with their player egos.
