So for footballer comparison, for those that have seen them play
McGlynn sounds like a Crouch clone at 174 cm, and we'd love to still have a 25 yo Crouchy
Kennedy sounds like a Kevin Dyson clone? Without the long kicking
I love that we have gone for stronger aggresive types (Mumford, Kennedy McGlynn), country boys with attitude, rather than outside running jibs
Still have our eye on recruiting players who will stand up in finals
Will be interesting to see what this means for our current list. SOunds like at least three clubs have salary cap pressure unresolved so PSD could come into play
Another Craig Bolton........You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

from a Hawks mate of mine
McGlynn is a little goer. In and under, very brave. Can't kick over a jam tin though! Kennedy is going to come back to bite us on the arse I reckon. Good solid midfielder, downfall...probably a tad slow. The only reason we traded him is we have alot of similiar types. Really sad to see them both gone actually!Comment

I would have rated it as one of the luckiest and poorest Premiership sides ever
Do you really think they are that good. Could be the colours though, difficult for anything to look good in Brown and GoldYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! There was a time when they would come for "because I was made to, money, and when can I go home". These guys are actually preferrencing Sydney (money too of course, but they would have done well at another Melbourne club). Perhaps witnessing Shaw's improvement and Jolls/Bolton/Ball et al has tipped the odd balance.
Once again I utter the inimitable, WhooHoo!If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Really? I think they are a team of fours stars (Hodge, Buddy, Roughy and Mitchell), and not much else really

But I've heard Pelchen speak a couple of times about recruiting (benefit of living in Canberra where the draft camp is). Whether the methods and assessments of the personnel department are correct or not, I think it would be accurate to say that they construct a team and a premiership tilt based on a statistical/scientifc type basis. Really into spreading the salary cap round, not paying too much for any one player (irrespective of talent), age considerations, grading players on particualr categories, etc. All teams probably do this (other than Richmond) but the Hawks seem to really like using numbers.Comment

JOLLY Won't Go for 14:roos
Swans web page. This is the only thing that concerns me with the whole of Trade week which I in fact we came out of it very well, the proof now will be in the draft with picks 6 and 14. But I am terribbly disappointed that we sent Jolly to the Pies for 14 and wait for it 46 this doesnt add up to me with Rooseys comments. Should have forced the issue with one of the young players that appears to be on table with other deals, Nathan Brown a young full back a position we desparately need to fill and have so for a number of years.Comment

I have to admit that the Hawks trading this year has left me a little perplexed (at least in that they went for Burgoyne over Jolly).

So Buddy is on the same pay as the rest?Comment

I just opened up the trade tracker and my head is spinning!!!!
Summary anyone???Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Really thrilled about how things have gone this week.
Suddenly the Swans are a youthful team with plenty of depth and potential. And with 2 first rounder, it can only get better.
Seaby and Mumford are probably as good as a Jolly/Pyke ruck duo, plus we add a lot of youth. Could emerge as a really good combo over many years.
Kennedy should be a top grade inside mid. The best players available at pick 6 this year are likely to be Rohan and/or Lucas, both with great speed and skills. The Kennedy trade means we don't have to take an inside mid with this pick. There will still be some very good inside mids available at pick 14.
McGlynn reminds me a lot of Crouch, good speed, a good tagger and very good tackler, but not great foot skills. But seems to win a lot more of the ball than Crouch did. If he can play the backline tagging role and Nick Smith can hold his spot, then both Shaw and Mattner can move to the midfield, and McVeigh can go forward more often as well. This could really boost our attack next year.
I totally agree. Even the most negative minded can't complain here.
Sydney get two high draft picks at 6 and 14. (Plus 47, 54, and those two low Barry Hall/Western Bulldogs trade draft picks- 63 and 79, I think). Not since 1998 has the Swans ever got two such high picks.
They get four new players with AFL experience, all aged between 21 to 26. Two are relatively young ruckmen, one a Premiership player, (Seaby), and the other who went very close to being a Premiership player, (Mumfries). Kennedy might be the best gain. He's only 21 with a lot of talent and has bloodline potential through his famous grandfather and father. (Didn't we have the same feeling twelve months ago with Rhyce Shaw and his Magpies petigree)
The Swans lose three players. All great players in their day, mighty servants of the club. However, Hall is 33 and was out of control. It's great that we got him out on a good trade, and not merely via a commercially useless retirement. Jolly is 29, (compare with the ages of Seaby and Mumfires). He will be missed, but do we want a player who is unhappy living in the harbour city? Buchanan is 28. He is injuried and was lucky for all sides that a club was willing to have him come in via a trade, rather than a useless de listing, where everyone loses.
Finally, subject to unlikely salary cap issues, I still think the club should seriously consider Shane Tuck via the Pre Season draft. Do you remember 7 years ago a bloke called Craig Bolton coming via the Pre Season draft?Comment

I think we have done the best of any team at trade week. Seriously.
Went into trade week with picks 6, 22, 38, 54 and a team that won 7 games all year.
We come out of trade week with picks 6 & 14. Two young ruckmen (Seaby & Mumford) with a lot of upside to replace our aging single ruckman. McGlynn, a young, best 22 player at Hawthorn, inside midfielder. And Kennedy, a strong bodied midfielder with a lot of upside and huge potential. On top of that we have unloaded Buchanan who has been nothing but a spud for two years.
Double thumbs up to the team at the trading table.Comment
