After using pick 81 to promote Thornton, we CURRENTLY have six spots on our list - picks 6, 14, 38, 54, 55 to use at the draft next week and pick 5 in the PSD.

We also can get extra PSD picks by moving one or two of the veterans to the outside list status. This is where we'd pick up Ablett and Playfair and not burn valuable National Draft picks.

I can't see players like Mitch Thorp, Jesse Smith, Matt McGuire etc getting through to the PSD. Some club will grab them with picks in the 50+ region.

Still think we could do something interesting with picks 54 and 55 like a recycled or one of those longer shot X factor types like Serhat Temel or Trent Dennis-Lane.

      Another HYPHEN in our squad.

I hope there's at least one cross dresser in there. Hasn't been the same since Heuskes left.

The west aussie Black looks interesting.

          Pick 6# - Gary Rohan
          Pick 14# - Aaron Black

then who cares. I really like the look of black and i reckon he could be good here. Rohan will be a star and has pace, which is what we need.

Can't see why we would take Black at 14. He is a key forward prospect. We need to look at key backmen.

Don't need to worry, Black will be gone by pick 14, now tipped to go 10-12, Tankers, Essendon or Carton.

I know the Swans have spoken to Matt Dea.

That is a glorious name. Isn't he the youngster that asked so many questions Roosy suggested they took him on as an assistant coach? Well, it would be different.

Bit of synchronicity with that pick 14.
Its become a Swans icon number.
I get a bit of paper to confirm that I me myself am a treasured 14 year member.
Kell is possibly extending his credentials and moving to assist GMS.
Could be that we will end up with a winner with our number 14 pick. Or not. Just musing.

Tested well at the draft camp, 187cm, athletic type who has only just decided on footy over basketball.

I wonder how many kids each club actually interviews? I suppose it depends on how many picks and where those pick are in the draft. for instance Port Adelaide has three picks total inside 16, West Coast has three picks ttal inside 23 so they won't be checking out kids that aren't top 20/top 30 you would assume.

Only a few more days to go until we can stop reading phantom drafts and start talking about the draft as it actually happened.

My personal preference for pick 6 is Lewis Jetta. He is exactly what we need and he has proven himself against bigger bodied mature players in the WAFL this year, and against the best of the SANFL in the state game. Here is a video of him from the draft camp which includes footage of our coaching staff talking with him.

                          Meet Lewis Jetta - AFL.com.au

IF Morabito fell to us then I would have him instead but that's highly unlikely.

With pick 14 I'm still undecided as to whether we should go with anoter mid or a key backman. I don't think we have anyone on our list atm who is capable of holding down full back into our next premiership window. Craig Bolton is 30 while Teddy and LRT lack a bit of class. We have a plethora of mids now so we should probably look at drafting a tall backman at 14 IMO. That being said there is likely to be quite a few quality mids around at 14 aswell. Someone like Daniel Talia would be perfect, he played for Vic Metro at full back this year and looked the goods.

With the later picks a small crumbing forward would be nice given we don't have any and a utility would also be handy.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

No point picking a key backman at 14 if there are far better quality choices. I hope that with the first two picks they just pick the two best options they think are there, regardless of position.

I can't really wrap my head around that idea. There's no point in having too many quality midfielders if you don't have a full back. Drafting for needs is the way to go IMO.
