I don't remember Sydney being interested in Ball...
Draft talk for 2009

We're connected with any uncontracted player every year, it would seem.
I wouldn't worry or get excited until we've called out picks 6 and 14!! Ball would certainly be gone by our next pick.
It would, however, be deliciously hilarious if we picked him up with the pick we received from Collingwood....
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Re: possible interest in Ball, either:
a) we're looking at him as a contingency, if the player(s) we want at 14 are gone and we aren't overly keen on those that have been overlooked to that point
or
b) Melbourne are talking up other clubs' interest to help them justify to their supporters that they need to use pick 11 or 18 on him
Probably a combination of both - I reckon we have very specific targets in mind for pick 14 (eg. Lucas, Callum Bartlett or McMillan-Pittard) and if they're gone we're luke warm on the others who will go in that part of the draft, bringing Ball into the equation.
Still unlikely though, but I'm sure taking Ball at 14 is one of the options still being considered.Comment

with Goodes moving upfront and Kirk moving on in 2010 now doubt and jude not far off .........Ball is still an option if we have the cash..
If we get Rohan I am happy to take on Ball as well unless we push Shaw on to the wing etc in 2010.........plus because Bird, Kennedy and or McGlynn are not sure bets that they will compliment to make a top 6 ranked midfield in the comp....they are depth players at this stage"be tough, only when it gets tough"

And if he still ain't happy in 12 months (which I reckon he would be), there's a club with 10 first round draft picks to deal with next year."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

Absolutely no chance of us taking Ball with pick 14.
We will draft the best midfielder left at 6 and then a KP defender at 14 if one of the suitable ones the club has their eye on is left at pick 14. If not it will be another midfielder.
After that they can go fishing for some x factor small forward.

If you read this, we are still a shot at Jetta at 14. We'll see . . .
Personally, though, I understand where the Eagles are going. Brad Sheppard was a major kick @@@ guitarist in the Hoodoo Gurus.

Defenders also are coming out of our ears.I would rather grab an x factor forward like Jetta and turn Lewis Johnstone into a KP defenderComment

Rohan at 6 and Jetta at 14 will definitely address our speed issues no doubt.
Still want Talia at 14 though.
I'm now definitely on the Ranga bandwagon! Rohan for #6!Official Driver Of The "Who Gives A @@@@ As The Player Will Get Delisted Anyway" Bandwagon.

Don't we already have a great stock of young midfielders? Bird.Hanneberry,Nathan Gordon,Taylor Gilchrist.Meredith.plus a few others then the old brigade which will be good for a couple of more years.

Rohan at 6 excites me. All the experts say there is enormous upside considering he's had just one year in the TAC Cup system.
My only concern with Jetta is that he's made it fairly clear by my reading that he wants to stay in Perth.
Lucas looks like a Simon Black clone. Given the unbelieveable off season we've had so far you never know, he may slide to 14."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Burgan's Phantom Draft has us taking Rohan and McMillan-Pittard in the first round.

Burgatron 2009 - Swans picks
The drafte thread's a bit full so thought I'd start a new one specifically for the Burgatron...
For those that don't know, Matt Burgan does a phantom draft every year PRIOR to the real thing. Sometimes he's right, sometimes he's not.
