i havent bagged LRT..........he has done beyond my expectations.........i think some one else on this thread was having a go at LRT.....

I just dont rate him as a top4 Key defender in the comp............maybe not even top12.....there are so many very dominant tall defenders

but if we are a tight 6 at the back and a better than last year 6 at the back then we can cover a few "non stars"

He played as a loose defender a little bit more this year (mostly towards the end of the year when Teddy was out), but he still was primarily our second key position defender.

LRT had 57 rebound 50s in 21 games. That's almost enough to get him into the top 30 for the year (65 was needed, but remember, LRT missed a H&A game and the Swans didn't play finals). He also had more kicks than handballs.

      Going off their GF sides:

      Goodes
      ROK
      Kirk
      C.Bolton
      J.Bolton
      McVeigh
      Mattner
Roberts-Thomson (quite a nice replacement for Harley, though would make it even with Harley in the team, but only just. Easily makes Saints side)
      White
McGlynn (only just, probably knocks off Byrnes at Geelong and Dempster and Raph Clarke at the Saints)
      Jack (see McGlynn)

At the Saints but not Geelong:

      Smith (already better than Dempster)
Ted Richards (Better than Dawson, Clarke, Dempster, etc)
      Heath Grundy

At Geelong but not the Saints:

Shane Mumford (he was, until he ran out of puff as basically Geelong's first ruckman. Another preseason and he'll be ready to ruck out full seasons. Better than Blake or West)

Pretty decent list. Might have been a TOUCH of an exaggeration with 15, it was just a general figure, but 12 or so is pretty normal.

Those sides might seem big and impenetrable, but remember that even the best sides have at least 2 or 3 fairly ordinary players right on the fringe. It's not the best players in a side that make a side better, it's the bottom 6. Our bottom 6 at the moment are fairly ordinary, but our regular players would still make the bottom 6 at any other club.

I think in her own inimitable style Auntie.Gerald is advocating for the return of Kennelly but this is easily misunderstood given the lack of coherence in her post and the irrational attack on some posters.

From a month of posting on RWO I have come to the conclusion that Auntie.Gerald has a limited understanding of the game but believes she?s a tactical mastermind in the class of Neil Craig.

What does Cyril Rioli have to do with a discussion on backlines?

Regarding Kennelly, his strength has always been his counter-attacking, but as a one on one defender ? even in his prime - he often struggled which is why the smart opposition players dragged him back to the goal square to a) exploit his defensive weaknesses and b) limit his ability to run off half back.

Kennelly?s return will help our run out of the backline, but it won?t do much for improving the ?backline that came 12th in the comp?, assuming you mean its defensive capabilities.

While I hope Tadhg does return, the Shaw fans should probably start preparing for him to have a less effective season given he and Kennelly will be playing the same role.

              So did I - Auntie Jack's sibling?

I think you are being a bit lofty.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

                                No one is bagging anybody.

This thread has become sooooooooooooo boring now that we made it more interesting and hence the discussion about Auntie Gerald.

This could go down as one of the biggest mysteries on RWO. Has there been one bigger?
