Now that Monty is at the Blions. He loves to throw his head back if there was the slightest chance the tackle was above his shoulder. I think the umps were on to him though.

Schnieds was the worst I can think of, though he seems to have gotten even bolder at St Kilda in 2009.

Saw it on the TV last night. And Divak, was one of the first the used on each news I saw. Brought a little smile to my face.

No wonder Lloyd retired. No more diving, especially if Campbell Brown is near.

        Hall and MOL.

I guess that is a no.

As previously mentioned, I reckon Monty was our #1 stager in the past few years.

Jude is probably #1 now, but I doubt he will ever be remembered as a stager, he isn't in the class of Didak, Lloyd et al.

Hall wasn't a stager but if were a cricketer he'd be fined for excessive appealing. The guy was forever in the crucifix position.

How long before Rocket starts complaining about Hall's treatment?

I don't think Jude is a stager - he just draws them by diving into contests head first. Sometimes he gets soft ones, but I don't think he fakes high contact, per se.

A few players are pretty skilled at this - Selwood is noted for it, for example. But I don't think these are the stagers that the AFL is trying to re-programme.

Another is Jimmy (don't call me James ) Bartel. He will be severly restricted. It will be interesting to see how long they all take to adjust their games.

Getting back to team selections, I watched the utube videos of TDL , Sumner , Rohan and jetta last night for the first time.

IMO while they show great promise , I think we are all getting a little ahead of ourselves if we think they are going to be in the side come round 1.

The standard they have been playing at is way below AFL level and a lot of the delivery of these guys would be crucified at AFL level.

Vespremi, Meredith and Johnstone were just as impressive at that level and they didnt make appearances (if at all) until well into the season proper.

TDL and Jetta were playing against men in the WAFL, remember. Much higher standard than the TAC Cup and State U18 Championships.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Good point , I guess WAFL may be stronger than TAC due to the more mature bodies but I do note that a lot of our rejects (who struggled to get a game at first level) regularly feature in the best for SANFL teams and some of the footage was in the state game between WA and SA where the likes of Farmer and Bell were still featuring.

I stand to be corrected but seem to remember that in that state game SANFL vs WAFL, our Jetta was one of the most influencial players on the ground. State vs state level is up again from state league level.

SANFL and WAFL are much tougher than TAC Cup, the bodies are bigger and the speed is faster so TDL & Jetta are not only older but should be much more advanced than 18yo out of TAC Cup.

While you are right, I think the point is about blokes stepping up from playing a couple of years in the WAFL.

Not quite the same as blokes who have spent a couple of years training (and maybe playing the odd senior game) at AFL level and then going back to WAFL or SANFL level...

I agree that it would be easier to make the transition from WAFL to TAC but very few first year players at any club , start round one and hold their place for the season. Either they play a couple of games and then go back to the ressies or they dont even figure until around round twelve.

Rich and Gibbs are probably two I exceptions but they were very high draft picks and certainly in the case of Gibbs, playing for clubs with little or no depth in the position they were picked in.

Dont get me wrong I am certainly excited about our picks and the talent they have showed at their respective levels but its a long road from subiaco wafl to charging through the swans midfield hitting bradshaw laces out at AFL level.

I don't know what's going on but I thought Kennelly was back this year & I would have him on my half back line over anyone in the league.
