Yes he did, but at the time he was located in Wagga, and running a cattle property during drought, with a five child family. Non paying board member was probably a bit ott under the circumstances. Comes to B&Fs every year. Still looks like a cheeky child.
If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhood

It wouldn't surprise me if this was a Sheedy idea. It would be typical of his cheeky in your face style.
The Swans would be mad not to try and keep him at the club.

Kel will always be a legend at our club, but keep him away from these rats. Interested to see how many so-called swans jump ship or have them as their 2nd team.

With the GWS focusing on local (Riverina) kids, Kel is a special for their payroll!

Prefer he stays in touch with the game locally if he has to go!

If you're going to start an AFL club in NSW the Swans are the prime source of talent. The Boges get the additional joy of getting in our face. Can't wait to meet those flannel-shirted f----s on the paddock.

                I'm with Bedford!

Sometimes there are lines one shouldn't cross in life!

Money is money but this new team is pretty much going to try & grab market share from us.

After what the Swans have gone through to get this far & Kels being a part of the struggling times, him taking on a role with this new team would somewhat contradict anything that I saw at the Hall of Fame dinner during the year!

Sorry if some of you think otherwise but he was made a board member but for some reason resigned that position a little earlier then I thought he would.

If the game is going to develop in Western Sydney it will need people like Kelly. Personally I think the second side will struggle for a long time, but I cannot see the problem with PK being invloved there. It's a lot better than a player dumping a battling club for a big chunk of cash.

I always thought he was a bit over qualified to be employed as a runner in his first year of retirement.
This is a much juicier role, why wouldn't he jump at it, working with Sheeds and a group of enthusiastic young kids. Empower the code in Sydney.
                      I'm pleased for him.
This second team might make The Swans work a bit harder, not take their captive audience of 6mill odd quite so much for granted.
Toughen the $%^# up, and calling them derogatory names is so 1980's.
It's bloody brilliant the AFL is expanding into this city.

Don't think they have one. North Melbourne at least has players

Paul Kelly would be just the sort of person to appeal to people in western Sydney, and give the new club's brand genuine credibility with their target market. He would be a brilliant acquisition for Team GWS.

here's why he can't do the same thing for us.

Kelly coup draws gasps and praise - RFNews - realfooty.com.au

"Team GWS haven't swiped Kelly from the Swans should he agree to take the position. The Southern NSW region he will be employed to develop is zoned exclusively for the new AFL franchise until 2013, so the Swans are unable to develop players from that region.

As always read the fine print and you shall see the reasons. It's a no brainer for GWS and Kelly. I doubt we'll even see him too often in Sydney.

I agree it's a smart, if not a little cheeky, move from GWS. Given Kell lives in the heart of their exclusive recruiting zone, it's a good fit. But I hope the Swans hierachy are as we speak, looking for an alternative gig with us. He is afterall a Swan through and through, and will be an asset lost if he goes to the dark side.
On a side note, I couldn't help but notice the unadulterated glee Eade showed when told the news. He should do a deal with guns, no need to touch old growth forests, just get Eade to come down there and dust his shoulders off.
