What about the free tickets given out by the AFL?

Not to be criticising one sport against another, but a trial match in the league with nothing at stake vs a pre-season cup game where there is something to play for.

Combine all that and it was decent crowd for a league game.

No one is suggesting that the NRL crowd was poor. Simply, it is plainly riduculous to say in plain English that the NRL won the battle.

And if we are going down the path of free tickets in a battle of the codes contest, I think one needs evidence as to the number of free tickets given out for both games. For the record, my tickets were not free.
