Take your point(s) re Jack playing so often, and I admit he will probably get picked....but I just think Moore is a much more talented player who offers a lot moore. His delivery to the forward line is a huge asset. Agree that Richards will probably play...but who could you leave out?? Maybe Kennedy and push the runners more into the midfield.
Was not aware that O'Dwyer did not play at the weekend. Form at the end of last year was excellent and even better in this year's NAB cup...got a heap of the pill....quick with brain and foot which cannot be said for a few others who play down back.
My theory on team picking is not the modern professional way....I reckon you should pick the talent ahead of the less talented if at all possible. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to Pyke being picked as a first 22 back."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Seasons greetings
This may have been discussed elsewhere - Roosy on forwards;
?Seabs? went up there, which worked really well. [Having three tall forwards] is going to stretch some teams. You can see Jesse?s pretty mobile and obviously Braddy?s (Daniel Bradshaw) mobile, and we experimented with Seabs up there and he took a good mark and kicked a goal, so certainly going to be the plan to go with the three talls.

As much as Jetta and Rohan are stars, there has never been a culture of bringing in first year players at this club to take on a full time position. they let them grow into their skin and ability first. Hanners was/is an exception. But at the stage he came in, there was not much choice. And he proved to be a cracker. But if you look at him now, compare him to last year, his physical development alone is significant. Therefore, would you expect the footy department to regularly play a kiddy before they are cooked? I don't think we are going to be that desparate this year.
I do hope they spot play them though, three weeks at a time. HOWever we all know that the settled team is the one that works its way up the ladder. For a change we have a pretty full list.
This is going to be a year of R&W debate of the highest order.......did, didn't, did, didn't,......you get the picture. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Don't necessarily agree with the sentiment, but this is one of the best oneliners/play on names/quips whatever you want to call it, I've read in ages.
Herald Sun or Telegraph sub editors could only dream of something as clever.Comment

Here is the 24 for this weekend as Paul Roos has said that he is naming the strongest possible line up and that if your not playing against north you wont play round witht he exception of Bradshaw.
Notable absentees are Hanners and O'Dwyer
This has made it easy for round one this is a list of 24 that i need to make 22 add bradshaw that means 3 omissions I think those the coaching staff will omit Rohan, Smith & Beavan
Personally i would prefer to see Rohan play ahead Moore i think he offers more than moore in the forward defensively and offensively and will develop over time into a better player. On the other hand there is no rush and they will have to play him early in the season when he starts tearing up the Canberra leagueComment

Bevan is a tough player to drop, as he goes so hard, you just get a lot of value and hardness. Moore early in the season when decks are harder might not be chosen on the bigger grounds given running is not his strength, Kennedy probably has more run and can fill the role Moore would if moved into the middle as a stronger midfielder during rotations
If I was Roos, I would give Rohan a rest, it's a long season for younger guys and they tend to tire, it's about development for him, he will play but a few weeks rest after four senior games is probably warranted
Be surprised if someone doesn't get a niggle, I think players won't be played early in the season if injured
Gee a tough decision to makeYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

i think Bevan will play - supplies the forward pressure Roos likes. Historically, the newly "traded" players have been given every chance to perform so likely thyat Seaby, Mumford, Kennedy and McGlynn will play early - and Bradshaw if fit.
Big issue is playing 4 attacking "small" backs (Shaw, Kennelly, Mattner, Malceski) or needing a defensive Smith
This is one of the first times in living memory that genuine new youngsters in Rohan and Jetta are genuine chances for an early start although Roos has been noting caution required when dealing with immature bodies. Dennis-Lane I beleive would have been right in the mix if not for a slight knee niggle.
It looks to be one of the few times for a while that players genuinely good enough and deserving of games are likely to miss.
Will make for interesting debate here!Comment

"Inside Football" pubished their annual Player Rankings this week. I am of the view that assuming that Bradshaw is fit for Round 1, the listed top 20 are in my team to play in Round 1. That top 20 is:
1. C.Bolton. 2. Goodes. 3. O'Keefe. 4. Bradshaw. 5. McVeigh. 6.Seaby. 7.J.Bolton. 8.Kirk. 9.Shaw. 10.Mattner. 11. White. 12.Richards. 13.Kennelly. 14.Grundy. 15.Malceski. 16.Mumford. 17.Smith. 18.Roberts-Thompson 19.Jack 20.McGynn
That leaves 2 more (or 3, if Bradshaw doesn't play). I think it is out of Veszpremi, Kennedy, Jetta, Rohan, Hannebery, Moore, Barlow or Bevan. For the top 2 spots I would go with the kids, Jetta and Rohan. The third sport I would pick Bevan closely edging out Kennedy.Comment
