There is no way I would play Bevan. He's had his chance. He goes hard and is a good tackler but he continues to turn the ball over and has a history of costing us goals the otehr way. Also, he lacks any of the creative skills some of our other hard players could offer.
Alrighty its time for your 2010 team rd 1..........if all fit

I agree that he's had his chance down back, but every opportunity he's been given in the forward line, he has taken with gusto, and proved an asset. Is he a superstar? Not by a long shot. Is he droppable? Definitely. Does he deserve a round 1 spot in the forwardline? Without a doubt.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Team for Round One
BEST 22 For me at moment
B: Ted Richards, Craig Bolton, Lewis Roberts-Thomson
HB: Martin Mattner, Heath Grundy, Tadhg Kennelly
C: Rhyce Shaw, Ryan O?Keefe, Jarrad McVeigh
HF: Kieren Jack, Adam Goodes, Ben McGlynn
F: Jesse White, Daniel Bradshaw, Lewis Jetta
Foll: Mark Seaby, Brett Kirk, Jude Bolton
I/C: Shane Mumford, Nick Malceski, Gary Rohan, Josh KennedyComment

I doubt they will play Rohan yet.Roosy says he cramped last night and has done previously.
Jack and McGlynn are very small HFF and aren't they both taggers? You could play one on the flank but IMO not both of them.I prefer Jack over McGlynn.Comment

I think I might have the same 22 but in different positions.
Kennelly Bolton Roberts Thomson
Richards Grundy Malceski
Mattner McVeigh Shaw
O'Keefe Goodes Rohan
Bolton Bradshaw White
Seaby Kirk Jack
Mumford, Kennedy, McGlynn, Jetta
Emerg: Smith, Moore, BevanComment

Some spots will be determined on match-ups. Milne and Schneider are two obvious ones. Surely a defensive player like Smith will play to stick with Milne all day."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Backs - C Bolton, H Grundy, N Smith
Half Backs - T Kennelly, LRT, R Shaw
Centres - M Mattner, R O'Keefe, N Malceski
Half Forwards - K Jack, A Goodes, J McVeigh
Forwards - D Bradshaw, J White, P Bevan
Rucks - M Seaby, B Kirk, J Bolton
Bench - S Mumford, J Kennedy, T Richards, (and here's where it gets hard, but I've gone with Jetta over Moore and McGlynn).
Emergencies - J Moore, B McGlynn, D Currie (direct for Bradshaw), D Hanneberry, E Barlow
What I did was to pick my certainties (in bold) then weigh up the players competing for positions.
The battles as I see them:
McGlynn v Jack (Tagger/Half Forward)
Kennedy v Moore (Midfield extractor)
Bevan v Rohan (Defensive forward)
Hanneberry v Mattner/Jetta/Shaw/Malceski (Wing/outside midfielder)
Barlow v Richards (tall utility)
Unbelievable, really, to have at least 8 spots unsettled for good reasons. I don't think Smith is in danger. I think his role is one of the most important and I can't think of anyone else to fill it other than Bevan or McGlynn, who are both too clumsy.
I tell you what, J Bolton would want to play well early, as there are more polished midfielders missing out, and we are not short of tough nuts.Comment

Fair comment, but he has been in sensational form this pre-season. Over the four games played, I think he has been our most consistently good player - certainly the most consistently good midfielder. I think he's playing like he knows he can't take his spot for granted and has no intention of yielding it up to one of the young whippersnappers.Comment

Certainly, Liz, and I wouldn't want my comment to be seen as anti-Jude.....I love him. It's just when you begin to look for spots for serious up and comers like Hanneberry, Rohan, Moore, Kennedy, and McGlynn, you begin to look for weaknesses. I nearly included Kirk, but went and washed my mouth out. But Jude kind of reminds me of Cresswell 2003.Comment

According to The Age this is the Swans best
B: Richards Roberts-Thompson Mattner
HB: Kennelly C Bolton Mattner
C: Shaw J Bolton O?Keefe
HF: Rohan Goodes Jetta
F: Bevan Bradshaw White
R: Seaby Kirk McVeigh
I: Jack Mumford Grundy Malceski
Emerg: Moore Kennedy Smith
Then again this is there best team, not the team they would have for round 1."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

It's a bit like waiting for 2009 draft day waiting for our first round team to be announced tomorrow, the first really new team since 2003. I reckon it's firming up, all the mature age players traded in will almost certainly play plus Jetta and Tadgh so it will look something like this
C Bolton LRT Mattner
Malceski Grundy Kennelly
Shaw Kirk O'Keefe
Jack Goodes Bevan
McGlyn Bradshaw White
Seaby J Bolton McVeigh
Mumford Jetta Richards Kennedy
Emerg Hanneberry Smith O'DwyerComment
