In the wake of Hanners unforeseen and sudden decline, the loss of Mitchell is being felt now more than ever but the reality is, from this day forward it's just going to be 'one of those things'..... ....with really no one to blame. But remember at Sydney, he was part of a mid field that had JPK, Parker, Hanneberry and Jack performing at or near their best form. At Hawthorn he is basically the centreline and is still slow.

I find the Mitchell discussion particularly tiresome. It is done. He's gone. Inexorable expressions of regret and complaint don't make anyone feel particularly good. Can we move on?

Cliched slogans are the curse of the 21st century. We have no choice now, but there must be accountability of poor decisions past, otherwise poor decisions will continue.

Perhaps the club needs to employ a psychic to read the tea leaves or the entrails of sacrifices before any decisions are made, just in case we make a bad one in the future.

I am pretty sure the club would have weighed up the situation and based it's decision on the facts known at the time.

He is still the exact same player now as he was with us. The difference is that he was our Number 4 midfielder and we didn't rely on him like the Hawks currently do.

Townsend would be my 1st choice too, but adding a DFA would complicate things, both for this draft and next year's as well. In any case, you would think Townsend would be better off going to a weaker team where he would have a better chance for a regular stint.

Townsend has the talent to play in any team, but could give Reid a run for his money regarding injuries. He's had them all.
If we passed on Darcy Moore due to Injury concerns, Townsend is a definite pass as well.

I have always been the champion of the injured players. I hoped for Heath James to overcome his hammies. AJ his knee, Reid his.... body, and Donkey his.. Body. At the end of the day, none have come good. It may be foolish to keep someone on the list if they fail to string 2 season together, just by weight of statistics.

To say he was 4th in line is misleading. He's the type you build a team around. I suspect Sydney didnt trust him to stay long term, so the risk of building a team around him and then he taking off was too high.

There's always been a certain jingoistic "my country right or wrong" attitude on RWO.
A few years ago offering an alternate view to that espoused by Swans management was frequently met with accusations of disloyalty.
Some on here even took this attitude to matters historical: I think the most surreal one was where 2 nameless RWO's claimed what a great idea the Neville Fields deal was.

Not sure a moments flip Tapatalk realy compares intellectually with George and Charles, but RWO is a broad church, so thanks for contributing.

In any case cognitive science has confirmed that "Banging on" is actually needed for learning/education.
