Now this really should be in the correct thread 707!
Nico, when you are ready to post your list of KPF we have drafted and developed in the last 20 years, can you post it in the trade and draft thread not this one, thanksComment

Call the thread what you like...
The drums are beating louder and louder.....And it sounds like (IMO)..... Mitchell will be at Hawthorn next year.
Yuk.
If so, what sort of trade could we expect?
My guess is...A late 1st round pick and a superfluous player.
Please don't let it be so Swannies...Trade Reid and pay the man.
I would want Hawthorn's 2017 1st rounder plus their 2nd rounder from this year if they finish above us. I they finish below us, I would take an upgrade of our 1st and 2nd round picks this year (pick swap), but will still depend on exactly where we all finish.
If he went to Carlton I would take their 1st round pick from either year.Comment

Heard a rumour today that he is after 800k.Comment

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Did everyone see the Facebook meme where the Bulldogs want Collingwood's second round pick to take Cloke?
Part of it was "it's a win-win. Collingwood get rid of Cloke and we get a second round compensation pick for taking him and using up a player spot on our list"
lolThe difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

There are some players that are worth paying "overs". They are the ones that will make for a better TEAM if they are there. When you pay "overs" for a player you then have to reduce funds available for other players, the "bread and butter" players. There has to be a tipping point for getting the best players and keeping team harmony. Team harmony, playing for each other is more important then having all gun players.
It is what Rampe said, that he is so competitive as he is worried he will let his team down if he does not compete for everything. These players and this attitude makes for successful seasons.
It is possible that if Mitchell goes we will not replace him with any one as good (even over long period). It is also possible that those that come in may have the same impact on the team success as Mitchell has had.
The bigger mistake would be to over pay as opposed to trading him out and seeing him become an even bigger star.Comment

Good luck to you Tommy, if he can get 800K elsewhere he's crazy not to take it! The truth is he is worth more to a club that really requires an in and under midfielder, that's not us as we've got others to fill that roleComment

Basically all the clubs have the same salary cap, and the spread of salaries within each club probably doesn't vary a lot. There are the $800K guys, the $600K guys, the $400K guys etc etc. Sure, there are the Buddy's, Gary Jnr on more, and anomalies like Tom Boyd getting seven figures, but they are one-offs. Mitchell is what, our fourth best midfielder, our tenth best player overall say. So to us he's like a $400K-$500K player. But if he goes to Carlton for instance he will be close to their best player and at least in their top four so he is a $800K guy there. There are no strict rules but that is the gist of it.
There are players on four year deals at $600K at bottom six clubs that would be playing NEAFL if they were at the Swans. They are lucky financially, they get to play in the AFL, but they'll never win any silverware. There is not a lot of job security being an AFL player, the clubs basically get rid of 20% of their player workforce every year, so you can't blame them trying to make a few dollars while they can. The interesting thing is Mitchell could go to Carlton, get paid almost twice as much but not be as good a player for Carlton as for us. He benefits from those around him. It helps when your teammates are really good. The handpasses come in cleaner, the kicks hit you or you can mark them in space etc etc. you get to look and play better because of those around you.Last edited by KTigers; 6 September 2016, 12:38 PM.Comment

No, getting caught one time doesn't make someone an addict.
Having a dependence on a substance makes someone an addict.
You can be an addict & never get caught. Or you you could get caught a thousand times.
I'm certainly not saying Talia is an addict. I haven't even heard he used, just that he was convicted with being in possession. But to say "Getting caught one time doesn't make him an addict" is a little flippantComment

Smart guy that Longmire, recognises the true value of a KPF :-) He must have been watching replays of 2015 games like me!
Now this really should be in the correct thread 707!

Nick Davis came to save us.
I should nominate you for the 3rd person award on the Hutchy and Pickers show on SEN on Saturday mornings.Last edited by Nico; 6 September 2016, 01:08 PM.Comment
