I wish they could renegotiate Tippett now over 4 yrs and even out his cost
If he is 900K (couldn't possible understand how with a trigger) we should make him 2.5 over 4yrs, that gives him injury cover
Also makes him tradeable too, and softens the next 2 yrs fo salary cap pressure with heeney and mills

As I've said before, with 3 midfield stars around you, it's a nice ride to bum along and do your thing while the best opposition players have their eyes elsewhere.
I think Tommy will find it a bit more of a struggle with a round 1 target on his back, and may be shut down more than he was.
He earned respect from other teams while at the Swans, but I dare say they still say Kennedy, Parker and Hanners as their main targets to try and negate.
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

Quote from Hannebery speaking on Bob Skilton Medal night back stage (i.e. before Mitchell trade was announced):

"We [Hanners & JPK] do our own little [thing?] to get ready pre-game and then Parks (Luke Parker) and Kizza (Kieren Jack) join in as well ? we?re a team within a team." See here: Goodesy's legacy still strong - sydneyswans.com.au.

It's conspicuous that there is no mention of Mitchell. Maybe, while Mitchell was valued, he didn't fit in and gel with the rest of the team to quite the same extent as the rest of our midfield core? Geographically that may be borne out too: Hanners and JPK live in Bondi. Parks lives somewhere in the East (Coogee? Maroubra?), don't know where Kizza lives. No idea where Mitchell has been living. Does he hang out with the others less?

Just a thought to console ourselves if we reckon we've taken a haircut on Mitchell. At least we only paid the Hawks picks 39, 46 and 70 for Lance Franklin, Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn. THAT was good business!

            yep.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Worth noting as well that Lloyd polled ahead of him in the F&B, suggesting where the coaches rate them respectively.

Nevertheless, he's a very good player that may well yet turn into an outstanding player. It's a shame to lose him, but we're not the first high performing team to lose good players along the way (and indeed we've been the beneficiary often in those cases - going way back to Craig Bolton). All power to the Hawks for targetting their man and selling the dream - and then getting the deal done. Many other clubs for whom Mitchell would have been a great catch that could learn plenty from them.

Mitchell could be the next des headland. Looked a gun at brisbane behind voss, black and aker, but when he was no 1 midfielder at freo got found out pretty quickly.

Not flashy, not much in terms if pace, and probably the exact opposite of the type of player we are screaming out for ( lets face it, winning inside ball is not our problem, its what happens after...) , but if he can deliver the ball as well as they say he can, his lack of pace shouldn't be a problem. Looking forward to seeing him run around next year.
A reasonably accurate and prescient post from Melbourne_Blood just gone 5 years ago around the time we drafted Mitchell. Nice going.

p.s. Note also the early use of the term "extractor"!!

In 2015 he was in South Coogee with Harry Cunningham and Xavier Richards, see At home with the Swans thanks to airbnb. I seem to recall that this was referred to some time again this year, at least that he was still sharing with Xavier and together they'd rehearse their routines for celebrating a goal. It sounded from that that he got on well enough with team mates.

At the end of the day, he was offered a job by another employer, for substantially more money and with further opportunity to add even more income outside of the salary cap (looking forward to his first Swisse ad). I totally agree with his decision and I hope that it works out well for him. In the meantime, our list managers have suspected this for months and the decision would have come as no surprise, so we would have worked out a strategy long ago. The entertaining thing now is to sit back and see how that strategy unfolds - we really wont know until the end of Trade paeriod, and then again in a couple of years when we see how this year's recruits go.

Funny how we've never got an issue winning the inside ball, it's our ball use once it's out! I wonder if this is due to the way we coach or the types of players we target?

Does anyone need a hug right now ?

I think there is a lot of petrol on this issue !

I can't help but look forward now and I am so excited to be brutally honest

Heeney, paps, AA and mills will be massive players for the swans going forward and I am pumped !!!

Unearthed in the last two seasons and rocketing skyward

We are in a very fortunate period of this club playing in 3 GFs in the last 5 years and to be looking like an even stronger team come 2017 !!

Not bad at all me thinks
