Was there any RWO reader who was at the game that can give us another great RWO review of the match? It's always much better reading for info on our up and coming player's than the official articles!Comment

Pyke took some excellent marks and played better than I've seen him play before but he doesn't seem to understand Aust Rules. Nick Smith was everywhere - wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the firsts soon. Pat Veszpremi worked hard but didn't always seem effective - seemed to work hard for not so much result and seemed to tire quickly. Sam Reid was impressive at times. Gary Rohan's tackling was ferocious, and his burst of speed dazzling. Dennis Trent Lane kicked a clever goal from a scrimmage just in front of goal. I had forgotten how good Ted's quick handballs were to set up run from the backs, but he didn't play quite to the standard one would expect of a 1sts defender. The tiny No.47 top up was amazing - but I didn't find out his name - look forward to seeing him play again. Bevan lost his cool. No 22 jumper was on someone other than Sumner. Lewis Johnston certainly looks promising but is still very light on physically. Currie and Sam Reid shared the rucking. Taylor Gilchrist looked good at times. Campbell Heath was pretty impressive at times. Nathan Gordon did some good work as did Dylan McNeil. Henry played well. O'Dwyer is an exciting player to watch. Sam Reid looks like he could play in the 1sts fairly soon and Currie seems to be maturing well.
Apologies for the generalities.Comment

Thanks Other Jesse for your very late night efforts. Good to see some of the players we gave wraps to last week are consistently good, and our praise hasn't put them off... Interesting to see how they are progressing, their strengths and weaknesses.
Also really good to see the wide rang of goal kickers; does this seem to be a team ethic? New plan to confound the oppositiion? I like it.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I wonder what Pyke did that gave you that impression? I'm not being defensive or critical, just curious.
And thanks for the comments - as I frequently say, I'm always glad to have any info about the ressies. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Can't work out why the photos aren't showing - I checked the viewing rights which is set to All. The link works fine on my computer. Maybe this one will work: Gary Rohan on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Let me know if it doesn't. Will upload more today.Comment

He took some good marks and stuck to his man like glue. Even when he failed to mark, the pressure on his opponent caused a spill. He seemed to be more a part of the game rather than a bystander wondering what to do. I remember at least one gutsy tackle. I am wondering if he is starting to come out of the "musn't give away frees" mindset that must be an issue for any player from another code. I also think that it is possible that one day soon a switch in his brain might turn on, he'll get the essence of the game (whatever that is) and then he could be awesome, but at the moment it's as though he is thinking every step and sometimes that is not enough at this level, no matter how athletic.Comment

[QUOTE=dimelb;480284]We should draft that noone - would solve a lot of problems.
QUOTE]
You mean Charlie Noone No.68. - a thin slip of a player, hard to spot but the players know where he is. He gets a lot of the ball but his disposals suck.Comment

Thanks JR - much appreciated. I'm sure Pykey is still finding his way in some respects, but the more I hear (and very occasionally see), it's very promising. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. I was at the game as well.#47 was Jeremy Hirst and there was no number 22. The top ups were 51 (Whiley), 48 (O'Neill),52 (Miles), 53 (Segrave), 50 (McPherson) and 49 (McRorey). All listed on the sheet handed out at the game.I FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED!!!!!Comment

What does it mean when a report says that Bevan "lost it" during the game?
Good to see that MOD has lost his facial hair. Always looks like he's going great guns, full pelt.Comment

I also wonder about Pyke and he "must not give away frees" issue. Personally I think it is more "I must not kill"....he is a very very big strong man...If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment
