It's funny how quick we can move on from things we wanted so badly. I'm over it already and absolutely hanging to drive down to Canberra next Friday evening and see the boys bounce back on Saturday!

Geelong are hard to beat down there, if the swans Had LRT, B2, McGlynn, Seaby and Hanneberry, it would have been a much smaller margin, there is no need to panic at this stage, we have lost to the two grand final teams of last year. all is not lost

Red Rohan has shown his potential, and his dogged persistence, and he is good.
          Cheese, .....
Jesse showed pockets of who and what he could be come as an AFL player, and I hope he grasps this and moves forward.
Smiffy is a keeper and so cool under pressure.
          Mummy worked his butt off.
Pyke did what he could with what he had. He is not going to set the world on fire, nor will he completely douse the flames either.
Teddy, oh Teddy, worked so hard but.......
Jet, the red boots didn't help. Your first goal is not the most important reason you are in the game.....

The coaches have some work to do, especially the forward coach.
Red had a day to forget, tried, but I hope he gets another go, we know he has what it takes.
I thought Jesse's first half was great, seemed to go missing in the 2nd though.
Smith had a great game, Love his work, no way he could've stopped THAT mark, but he tried his best.
Mummy was good, but let himself down, dropping a sitter which led to a goal early, and those couple of brain farts. Can only get better.

I thought teddy was pretty average today,

Jet's pick up and spin all in one move is why we pay our memberships. Simply first rate. Had a couple of shocking disposals, but he's getting their.

Kennedy was great, worked hard all day.

Goodes and Barlow should walk home.

Whilst Bradshaw didn't get much, the ball hardly came to him.

Kirk, Jude, Jack, and ROK, were all well down today.

Pyke looked much better than in his last Seniors game.

Not much to like about the performance. We were smashed in the midfield and if that happens your forwards and defenders have no chance.

Ablett was playing as if he had no opponent the way he won the ball out of the centre. It was disappointing that our coaches didn't seem to wield the changes. Perhaps Nick Smith should have been given a go on Ablett as he did a good job on Johnson.

It was a shame that Mummy appeared to be the only one trying to physically impose himself. He gave away a few frees because of it but at least he was having a crack. We were smashed in the intensity department and it all flowed from there.

A very puzzling game from Goodes. Was our best player in the 1st quarter then went missing, or fumbled. As good as he is, he plays in spurts and always has. Ablett always brings his best game for four quarters.

Did Moore get injured? He must be carrying that ankle so McGlynn will probably replace him next week.

I hope LRT is right to come back because Turnover Ted cannot play on the best forwards. Gets exposed every time.

There should be other changes. Barlow goes straight back from where he came from. Just seems to have no idea out there.

Veszpremi should be given a run in the seniors where he can play a role and at at least we know he's got the class to do his job well.

my thoughts have always been win 2 of the next 3 (cats, dogs, dockers) we can still do that, but wanted the cats one more to shut opposition people up and media etc who want to say we havent beaten anyone good

Geelong would have beaten any team today.. They were that good. Too many stars all on song. Next week is another game and we are a good chance. I want to see the betting on who Barry takes a swing at 1st. I hope LRT is up and running coz that is where my money is. Realistically we are a 5-8 position team. Considering the last 2 seasons I will take that. Any better and we are kidding ourselves. If anybody thought we were going to stay number 1 the whole season, you were dreamin. The ladder is sorting itself out. We still have so much improvement to come. The next 2 or 3 years are gunna be fun for sure.

Aaaah who cares! I'm not even that overly disappointed, this was expected AND the team is due for a downer, which happens, cant win all 22 games. Although the 67 point margin does hurt %. We were NEVER EVER going to win this game, they are absolutely unbeatable down there and are still the side to beat IMHO.

Yep - we all want that. We'll just have to be happy to wait until the business end of the season to do it tho! And so what about what everyone else is saying now - the ladder says 5-2, which beats the hell out of what it says for 11 other teams right now! The medja and opp fans can say what they like really!

For the first three quarters of a season, matches are all about the four points - nothing more. You don't win premierships during this period, but you can lose them. The last quarter of the season and leading into the finals is when making statements and having great form counts - there have been plenty of statement making teams at this time of the year in seasons' past, but it hardly ever makes them premiers! Collingwood are doing it now (again!) but I'd still be tipping them to be in tears when their season ends! We probably aren't a realistic flag chance yet, but hope springs eternal and it would certainly be a bonus considering our expectations going into this season.

Few teams can stay up all season, and even if they do, it doesn't always translate to ultimate success (Cats 2008, Saints last year). If nothing else, our premiership year shows that form at the business end is all that counts (as long as the rest of the season provides enough wins to have the opportunity to win a flag).

Hopefully today is just a speed bump. And there are always teams with bigger issues to confront - Vossy's strategy of trading short for a crack this year is looking pretty sick and flawed right now, but he will also know that it is all just about getting four points this time of year. He will be working feverishly to just find a way for his team to scrag a win any way any how in the next month or so, and hoping they do enough to get into the business end of the season and be firing on all cylinders then. He knows better than anyone about timing - his premiership winning lions were rarely top of the heap except on Grand Final day ...

Geelong were fantastic. They are awesome at getting numbers to the ball. This was something we didn't appear to want to do much.
Hats off to Kennelly, Eski and Shaw who worked hard all day but just couldn't get any rhythm. Smith was fantastic.
Just shows that taking our two best defenders out is going to make it very tough against the top sides. Against 3 forwards like Mooney, Podsiadly (who you can't help love) and Hawkins we were always going to be up against it. Add to that Varcoe, Chapman, Stevie Johnson and Gablett floating around.
When you add B2 and LRT back in we are a very different side.
The most frustrating thing for me was our delivery into and subsequent forward pressure but that will come. Don't know what to think about Scarlett/Bradshaw contest. Just looked out of sorts and couldn't seem to get on the lead.
Barlow isn't really ready to step up to senior footy.
Goodes had a wierd day. He looked to be on fire in the first qtr then went quiet for the next 2 then back on the ball and loads of turnovers. I wondered if he had got injured.
I know Mummy was frustrating today with the 2 x 50m however he is going to be a great player for us. Can only improve and he surprises me with how fast he is.

I found it difficult to find ANY occasion in the last two quarters where a Geelong player made a mistake! They are 70plus in front and still playing with acute intensity.

Being a glass half full man, I can't help but sense that with a long season ahead, Geelong are pushing themselves too hard. Tied in with that argument, Ablett and Scarlett were both fit to play last week, but deliberated rested against the Tigers. Both champion players were so fresh today. Good coaching by Bomber.

It will be very interesting to see if there is any difference in the margin when they come to Sydney later in the season.

Let's be realistic, the Swans will not win the flag in 2010. I assess that they are on par with the 2004 Swans, a pretty good team which made the last 6, and, akin to today, were thrashed by more than 70 points by a champion team in Port Adelaide at Football Park. And we all know what happened in 2005!

I'm a big believer in the point that all you need to do is make the Finals. Then it's a new ball game. Sydney can mix it with the best of them don't worry. You can say Sydney will never beat Geelong at their absolute best but the reality is that most teams don't always produce their absolute best for a multitude of reasons. Injury, the previous weeks game, weather etc etc. The game is full of variables. I don't think right now I would even think of saying they can't win the flag.
